Jeez I hope people aren’t getting excited about one good sanfl game against an under manned team with -2 points to its name.
Westhoff looked so comfortable out there, it’s not so much that his form will translate directly as it is that the confidence will help him immensely.

He also clearly played as a wingman/midfielder which simply has to be his position in the AFL.

He didn’t look like missing in front of goal. You watch him spray em everywhere in the show down.

It doesn't matter what level it is. A set shot is a set shot. There is no interference. He slotted them when he normally would miss. Also wasn't solely a KPF like he is at AFL level. Is a lot better racking up the touches around the ground.

So do most players but doesn’t seem to happen in our club.

If only there was a man we could employ to recognise their individual strengths and deploy and direct them accordingly for the betterment of the team.

A set shot is not a set shot!!
That is the whole point and what makes this current team so frustrating.
Hoff is the classic example. A set shot in the SANFL has no pressure. And surprise surprise gets every one. When it really matters they don’t go close. It’s not just hoff of course. Our 1/2 captain's shot in last year’s show down was probably the greatest of all time.

In Hoffs case he simply misses the easy ones and gets the super hard ones. That game was the opposite. As for pressure, he needed to perform otherwise he won’t get his spot back. You could argue it’s a different type of pressue though.

Hoff doesn’t perform under pressure. The reason he gets the impossible frequently is because he doesn’t have time to think.

Westhoff's last six games where he has kicked at least 1 goal.

SANFL Round 11: 3 goals 0
AFL Round 16: 1 goal 0
AFL Round 23: 2 goals 1
AFL Round 2: 3 goals 0
AFL Round 3: 2 goals 1
AFL Round 4: 2 goals 0

= 13 goals 2

I usually joke about Westhoff that he can't kick a set shot if the game is within 5 goals either way, but he's been pretty good this year.

I think it helps that he's under less pressure being the 3rd tall, and our gameplan doesn't neccessitate repeated 100m sprints all day to generate a set shot.
