Holy Grail- At the GF

I was just wondering, who else reckons the song 'Holy Grail' by Mark Seymour, should be part of the Grand Final pre match entertainment every year ?? It perfectly sums up the fight for the premiership cup and it never fail to get me pumped up for a footy match.

I mean this year we were treated to that Disney Phil Collins song (What was it?), and we sometimes get Rob Guest etc. singing stupid songs from his stage musicals. That is absolute crap!!

I think Up there Cazaly, One day in September and Holy Grail would be great to have as part of the traditional GF entertainment. (the anthem as well).

The only song I ever want to hear at a Grand Final is "Good Old Collingwood Forever", played over and over at the END of the game.

ant - nice idea! The song really gets the crowd pumping (more than the "we're doing the dipper" song) and the atmosphere more electric. Do you think Wayne would support this idea though?

It's a great song - just a little TOO similar to More Than A Feeling by Boston ( one hit wonder ).

My kids love the Rockin' Footy compilation videos with all the great Aussie songs - Paul Kelly's Leaps and Bounds is the standout.

Maybe now we all know the words to AAF, we can just sing along.

GREAT IDEA !!!!!
Only one problem.The AFL wouldn't have Mark Seymour perform it,they'd get Julie'bloody'Anthony to sing it -YUCK!!!!.

yeah the prematch wasnt that good this year
-->was much better the year before maybe next year i wont bother getting there so early for it guess its part of the tradition though. To me the grand final parade is the best of the lot!

seymour played it in 98 i think, and it was good, but its not a footy song, its about war, i dont think it should be played every year.
leap and bounds is a bit more suited
if hunters and collectors were to get back together to play it it would be awesome but holy grail every year sort of takes away the real meaning of the song
