My God 200 metres from a gold in the 20km walk and poor bloody Jane Saville gets dissqualified. Shit that was sad, never seen anything like it. She was disstraught poor girl, she was about to enter the stadium with a huge raw from the crowd watching on the screen.

I don't know much about walking and she probably broke the rules, but that judge hasn't got a heart, what a fuuckiing cold bastard.

Well done Jane your still a winner in Australia's eyes, great effort.

Cheers.

Walking - Another 'sport' that should be axed from the Olympics.

In it you have to have one piece of your foot on the ground at all times, but every single athglete 'runs' and breaks the rules yet the judges only disqualify a handful.

Friggin Joke.

I was totally lost for words when I saw it happen, although if she had already been warned twice before she was skating on thin ice, yet there are going to be a few questions asked:

1) Did that Italian lady who was already disqualified put her off? The whole crowd didnt know she (Italian Lady) was disqualified so they were screaming for Jane to take the lead (which she already had)

2) Was Jane disqualified when going down the ramp which lead into Stadium Australia or prior on the open roads? The main judge's assistant seemed to point to Jane's feet when she was coming down the ramp - and the main judge stepped out to stop her with the red card which leads to my belief that It wasn't planned but a spur of the moment decision to disqualified her.

What does everyone else think?

Stealth you are right, In regard to the Australian girl whilst it was sad to see her forced out, that's the rule. Plenty of other were eliminated before her.

That is a tragic sport.

Happening right near the ned is gut-wrenching. All that 20km for nothing. You'd think, given that she was so far in front that the judge may turn a blind eye.

Obviously, you can't mointor all 50 thousand steps an athlete takes, so the judges must know that some atletes don't get caught. You'd think they would turn a blind eye, wouldn't you.

I was so upset when it happened. Only .2 of a km to get a gold medal. I really felt for her. At the end of the race, the interviewer asked her if there was anything she wanted. Her reply " Yeah, a gun to shoot myself."

Poor thing. Although I do think it is a weird competition.

I was watchin it at work on a with about 50 others. When it happened half of us started crying. I think this will be the most remembered scene by Aussies in years to come.

And how can you not run down that bloody ramp anyway?

Begs the question now. Who was the bigger cheat, Jane Saville or the Romanian gymnast. Both got disqualified and both lost the gold medal.

Poor poor poor poor poor Jane. I really feel for her

yet again another aussie piped from recieving a gold medal, but this time it wasn't even silver.

well done to all Aussies during the olympics!!

The sad thing was, when they showed the highlights on 7 news the winner of the race (Japanese girl) clearly had both her legs in the air!

I say we all send her a herofax!

Did any of us watch 'The Dream' last night, the top 3 of the mens were RUNNING down the ramp to go into the stadium, that wasn't picked up, were the hell is the consistency, this is the olympics, what next? swimming different strokes to the stroke that is allowed.

That must be the easiest way to destroy a sport.

There hasn't been much actual footage of the three 'mistakes' that supposedly happenened, and because it was an Aussie you would think that as much footage as possible would be found.

SHAME SHAME SHAME

The nincompoops should of just allowed it through.

Yeah I saw the dream last night and if the judges couldn't see that those three mens medal winners weren't running they must have been blind!!!!!!!!! Feel sorry for the girl considering that the event may be axed and she will never get an olympic medal (she was running though).

Well said Rice, to come so close and have that happen just outside the stadium is devastating.

Fortunately for Jane (if there is a positive side), the winner of the mens race from Mexico did a lap of honour and was reportedly on the phone to the President of Mexico when he was told that he had been disqualified.

Still, I don't suppose that is too much compensatation for her.

Saw some guy from the IOC on the news today saying that soon they will use advanced technology to detect runners in the walk.

He reckons they will hace microchips in the shoes that will detect whenever neither foot is on the ground.

May as well add some magnets to so that when they run for the third time they get stuck to the ground so they can't interfere with the others racing.
