And you think that the Pies will settle for just one oval at the glasshouse, going into the future.? Or do you think a rich club like that will move to a bigger property circumstance soon enough.?

We need a home where supporters can meet when going in to the games... and leaving after wins such as last night.

Who is going to meetup at Caulfield pre game, and after games. To build a supporter based footy club.
........................

Your right currently its a mess, but its better than being at the old junction oval owned by others.

I believe when the Punt Rd improvements happen, and the Metrail cover has begun, we will be in the box seat where we are, to build on it.

Who gives a s**t about Collingwood. This is about us being nomads for half a century and finally having a permanent home that suits our club.

Got nothing to do with having a social club. Those days are long gone. Richmond supporters don't go to Punt road after a win they go to the Corner hotel.

Trying to redevelop parkland in the city area is a political minefield we simply can't navigate. Moving to a suburban base that's a half hour drive from the city and in the heart of where our supporterbase lives and where players would actually like to live is a good idea. If we can actually pull it off it will be a fantastic achievement for the club.

Tigers ‘threaten to quit’ home ground of 137 years if council won’t back demolition plan

Richmond has claimed it will abandon its 137-year stint at Punt Road Oval if a City of Melbourne committee does not approve its redevelopment plan.

As reported by Nine, the Tigers’ planned $65 million redevelopment of their long-time base is reliant on approval from the council’s Future Melbourne Committee

What's your point?

I can't find the Brendon Gale quotes; i thought they would be in that article, but he says that the Punt Rd Oval is a great thing for "before and after games" for the Tiger Army to attend.. the social side of things.
Sending me an article that may or may not contain a throwaway line Brendan Gale said at some point is not the slam dunk you think it is.

Even in a hypothetical world where we put a social club in the club's offices at AAMI park, you would see more Dees supporters having a beer at one of the MCC bars after a win than you would get at your VFL function room pipe dream.

Regardless, the point is moot. We will never have a training base within the MCG precinct or its surrounds. That ship sailed decades ago.

I don't agree. You say teams need more than one oval, for up to the minute training centres. So, the Pies should move as well, or the Tiges could move, if unsuccessful in they're bid to demolish the grand stand.

Jumping of an assumed sinking ship does not mean that ship sinks. Other ovals/avenues can open up.

Gary Pert welcoming them to Caulfield as though we are already sorted there and they are the Johnny come latelys is bloody cringeworthy. We still don't even have a business case and have a $70m funding gap while they've finalised a $195m purchase of land.

“We welcome the announcement that Mount Scopus Memorial College intend to be our neighbour, building a new campus adjacent to Caulfield Racecourse,” Pert said.

Meanwhile John Kanga (MRC chairman) was apparently on radio this week saying the MRC opposed MFC using the inside of the Caulfield racetrack for our training base.

Seems like we'll be on the hunt for a new home again...

Just watched that bit of the interview. Didn't get the sense the MRC have much say there.

Doesn't the MRC run Caulfield though? Not surprised they're opposed to it. Why tf would they care about AFL? I'm guessing their opinion will carry weight. Can see this thing falling over
It's all on crown land so the MRC are subject to leasing agreements themselves. The vibe I got from the interview was that the MRC don't want another sporting club using that land because they think it will piss off the locals who they'd prefer to keep on-side. His arguments were pretty poor. Saying the locals don't want to lose their dog park which has nothing to do with the land we'd be using.

We won't be able to train outdoors most of the time as the racing shit gets absolute priority. It's a very part time training base if it ever gets up, we're essentially sub-letting it.

Is there a reason why we can't develop the Gosch's paddock area? That would be ideal. I'm assuming there's too many parties that use it. Too costly etc.

Surely the feasibility study would find this not feasible if we couldn’t train outdoors most of the time after putting in 2 ovals.

If it's anything like previous work I've seen done by AFL teams, it's basically crayon written. They may not even know how ****ed it is for all I know.

No idea, what I know about Caufield I only know from a chance convo with some public land expert types.

Goodwin posted for his primary base in the middle of a racecourse is something I really want to see play out. Forget Goodwin -he’ll be gone - but any of this lot. I’m hoping for a really spectacular mess. Tanking, Neeld years, Oliver, Petracca. That’s nothing. I think we can push this further and really make the history books.

That cannot be true. If it is the entire board should go.

The issue seems to be the Admin building side of things, I thought they were going to try and build the triangle of land next to the freeway ramp on the St. Kilda side of Goschs but we would've been crammed in there (depending how many storeys we could build I guess).

They most probably don't want any training done during a race meeting, there are only 7 race meetings April, May & June club should be able to work around this.
