I was about to LOL react but that appears to be the Women's team.
In September last year, Melbourne publicly released designs for a new training and administration facility on the south-western side alongside Booran Rd which would be connected to two ovals on the inside of the track as well as community sporting facilities.
But those plans have been secretly pushed aside after the club was surprised by the potential $195 million sale of a parcel of adjoining land to Mt Scopus Memorial College which has complicated matters.
In recent months, Melbourne has since quietly set its sights on a new area and new plans in the south-eastern corner of the precinct close to Neerim Road and Queens Ave.
Doesn't specifically address that in the full article unfortunately, but you'd think so.So if I understand this right the idea is still to have the ovals in the reserve but we want to build the training facility on a different corner of the exterior?
Imagine how I feel, giving your initial post a love react, only to find out you hadn't properly done your research. Now I feel very silly.
I should probably get my glasses prescription updated![]()
This is a dark day for BigFooty user/moderator, Scythe (formerly Scythe94).Imagine how I feel, giving your initial post a love react, only to find out you hadn't properly done your research.
I'll leave the react there though. Because I'm a nice guy.
Two ovals would be a big one. My understanding is that Hawthorn are leaving Waverley because they outgrew it and there was very limited scope for developing those facilities further. Can someone help me understand the appeal of developing a base at Caulfield Race Course?
How is Caulfield a better proposition than taking over Waverley Park and giving it a coat of red & blue paint?
I cant but my best guess is they want a precinct that includes 2 mcg sized ovals (mens and womens) and an admin complex for all the staff in one spotCan someone help me understand the appeal of developing a base at Caulfield Race Course?
How is Caulfield a better proposition than taking over Waverley Park and giving it a coat of red & blue paint?
Close, see below. Yellow being the new area, which easily fits the original plan for a building of ~180m in length (in red), not that they would try to keep the exact same shape. So maybe down where I circled perhaps? Maybe not, doesnt seem large enough...

“Their biggest sticking point isn’t about what is happening with the school or anybody – their biggest sticking point is that they haven’t been able to raise the funding needed to deliver this project,” Almaliki said.
“The trust’s major interest in this project, whether it is Melbourne Football Club or anybody, is to see funding that improves facilities and community access to those facilities, including the two football ovals that would go in – because they would be made available for community use as well as the football club. That’s our interest in this.
“Paul Guerra could be the guy that seals the deal and gets Melbourne home at Caulfield.”
Not entirely accurate.Apparently, the new CEO has been blocked from trying to do anything about this by the board.
If this is the case is probably best they just sack him and pay him out now.
