Honestly sounds like they think Pert is doing a crap job and would rather the new CEO work on it when he has actually started.
It was nothing more than a shitty coked up idea someone had while at the races. Look at all that spare land in there behind the horses!

It’s definitely a “look over there” project to keep everyone quiet until they find the best time to pack it in and pretend that Casey Fields would be a stellar idea for a home base.

Also why would anyone think it is a bright idea to have Goodwin, Oliver and May spending more time at a racecourse?

Wasn't this whole thing Pert's brainchild?

Some talk we're still talking to the AFL about Waverley, perhaps as a stop gap until Caulfield is ready. Tigers also keen, but they have other options so we could make the case it's more pressing for us.

Sounds like it could be an extremely positive end to the year. Don't want to get too positive, but fingers crossed.

I wonder if the fact we would need to be at Waverley for multiple years before Caulfield is finished gives us he edge over tigers to get it.
You'd think so. I mean even the coach had a dig on his way out about where we train.

If Caulfield gets the green light end of year, what's the word on how long it will take to build? 2 years? 3?

Not sure to be honest. Assume with planning and approvals etc then the building it’ll be a few years away from moving in even once given the go ahead.

Hawthorn did its feasibility study for Dingley in 2015 and got its planning permit approved in 2016. They haven't moved in yet.

Different projects obviously, but Caulfield—if it goes ahead—will be a loooooong way off

What held them up for so long, funding?

I'd have to look at the plans again. But Caulfield is a fantastic location. I cant remember what it all looked like. Was the ground in the middle of the racecourse?
There is no oval inside the race course . Might have an issue with the ponds inside the race course though , my old High School is out the back . There is an oval out the back ,but i don't think the VRC owns it .

The plan on the website shows where we want to ovals to be https://www.melbournefc.com.au/club/creating-our-home

Although I think the location of the actual facilities has changed since this was put up? Feel like I heard something about us looking to build them on the northern part closer to the station.
