Could be part of it - But the actual talk going around is we've been mismanaging the key stakeholders and they are close to pulling the pin due to our poor management.
MFC once again falling to pieces in the final quarter. 🄲

It's not dead, but it's gone downhill the last few months is what I've heard. And yeah, the things going around haven't exactly been complimentary about the MFC.
Much like half our losses over the past few years "we're really close"

Won't be a great start for Smith and particularly Guerra if Caufield falls through.

Just gut feel, but reckon Guerra is in the hot seat from the fans pretty early if things don't improve much across the board with the club. Just feel like general MFC fans are a bit unconvinced on him.

He speaks well but his lack of footy experience is a big question mark. Seemed pretty clear he was brought in for his connections in the racing industry and to help get Caufield done so if it falls through there's a question over what exactly he is bringing to the table.

Yep, and apparently the financial side of things is not an issue now so it's all about our relationships, project management and negotiating skills.

Wasn't that the exact reason why we hired Gary Pert in the first place? His connections within the industry as well as being part of the main push for securing Collingwood home base many years back.

This was Guerra as recent as October..

Melbourne’s move to finally confirm a headquarters at the Caulfield racecourse continues apace with more positive meetings in the last fortnight.

ā€œAll I would say is by the time the AGM comes around we will be in a position to give a really positive alignment.ā€

Yes it's pretty clear we've hit a snag since then and the club isn't talking about it.

And they will continue not to bring it up all preseason as they will be terrified of any negative press with a low membership count.

It's so disappointing as this is the main thing all fans want and what is killing us in terms of attracting talent - I'd genuinely trade the 2021 flag for a long term home base locked in.

Nah i don't believe that's If that was the case then they would not be ruling out of Waverley' no point in saying there will be a big announcement soon' if it was close to being called off'.

The 'big announcement' was meant to happen at the AGM. How did that pan out?

Waverley was between us and the Tigers, guess who is apparently training there now?

I feel like they'll dump the news at 5pm on a Friday mid 2026 season that Caulfield isn't happening.

Disaster for the club really. Failure to lock something in within the next five years would have me seriously worrying for the future again, especially when we're probably going to be doing a full rebuild and down the bottom for a while.
