Just gut feel, but reckon Guerra is in the hot seat from the fans pretty early if things don't improve much across the board with the club. Just feel like general MFC fans are a bit unconvinced on him.

Yep, and apparently the financial side of things is not an issue now so it's all about our relationships, project management and negotiating skills.

And they will continue not to bring it up all preseason as they will be terrified of any negative press with a low membership count.

It's so disappointing as this is the main thing all fans want and what is killing us in terms of attracting talent - I'd genuinely trade the 2021 flag for a long term home base locked in.

I feel like they'll dump the news at 5pm on a Friday mid 2026 season that Caulfield isn't happening.

Disaster for the club really. Failure to lock something in within the next five years would have me seriously worrying for the future again, especially when we're probably going to be doing a full rebuild and down the bottom for a while.

i think the mentality is wrong here from all the posters and anyone from the club who has this catastrophic mindset. Sure it'd be great to have a proper home but if we think thats the reason that we cant be successful then we won't be. We've already won a flag without one and can do it again.

Since then, with normal programming, how have we gone?

Every team in the comp is looking for the small % edge on everyone else. Training bases and facilities have become a big factor in that. I mean, we've heard over the last few months what our former coach and some former players think about our setup. You'd be incredibly naive to think it's something that has no impact. Every team in the comp is trying to upgrade their facilities, what does that tell you about if it's a factor or not?

Short version - Sure, not having a great homebase/facilities setup doesn't mean you will fail, but it absolutely does not help, and in a professional comp where everyone is looking for the slightest advantage, it can end up making a big difference.

I didnt say it had no impact did i? Of course it does. But nowhere near as much as Van Rooyen dropping uncontested marks, or Petracca bellying snaps from 30m or Lever giving front on contact frees away and not understanding why. Or our whole teams inability to understand moments and winning close games.

If we're winners, we're working on our weaknesses, becoming better players and teammates and taking ownership of our onfield form. I think complaining about training venue is just a losing mentality. I think a slight greivance is fine but it shouldn't be over the top imo. Kobe Bryant would be turning in his grave listening to the woe is me over this cranbourne thing.

Every trade period first thing you hear - "Touring the facilities". Imagine then thinking that us taking a player from the G to AAMI, to Gosch's, to Casey, to Port Melbourne and then to a few private gyms isn't a massive downside for us in trying to attract players.
