I didnt say it had no impact did i? Of course it does. But nowhere near as much as Van Rooyen dropping uncontested marks, or Petracca bellying snaps from 30m or Lever giving front on contact frees away and not understanding why. Or our whole teams inability to understand moments and winning close games.

If we're winners, we're working on our weaknesses, becoming better players and teammates and taking ownership of our onfield form. I think complaining about training venue is just a losing mentality. I think a slight greivance is fine but it shouldn't be over the top imo. Kobe Bryant would be turning in his grave listening to the woe is me over this cranbourne thing.
BuT PetRacCa aNd LeVeR aRe PreMieRsHiP PlAyErs.... We still won a flag with them didn't we? We also won a flag with Pert, Roffey and Goodwin around. Bring them all back hey!

it all starts and ends with Selwyn :)
No on no mate, fitness staff, like the home base(s) have no impact, didn't you hear? It's all to do with mystery reasons that Lever gave away frees and Petracca missed snaps, or something something 'moments'... Insignificant things like the people in charge of their fitness, the quality of the facilities etc don't matter!

Just because an accountant can hand write everything, doesn't mean giving them access to a computer and spreadsheet wouldn't also make them better at their job and a better product for those reading 🤷‍♂️

"We won one flag in 60 years in a year where no one got to train exclusively at their home base" is quite an argument for why we don't need one.

Call me crazy and i'm not going into bat for Dan, but in 21 asides from finals series and the northern states that had to hub in the middle of the season for a bit, mostly everyone was still training at their home bases. We were out at Casey training during the week through the season.

We did of course lose access to gosch's paddock though as it wasn't a facility you could restrict public access too, but that went through a redevelopment in august that year too (idk if that was always planned or brought forward because the area wasn't being used and would have been a good time to capitalise on doing it)

2020 on the other hand a lot more extreme all the victorian teams hubbing and moving along with NSW and WA going north at different stages but ending the season up there

It's the whole environment though - Not just which oval we use. One of the main issues is our executive offices are at the G, footy offices at AAMI, and then we're all over the place in terms of fitness and training locations.

Plus, 2021 there's still a fair bit of ad hoc stuff going on. Over the last 6 games, we had 1 game in Melbourne (half of them in WA). That's not a standard setup. The Dogs had 1 game in Victoria out of their last 6. I'm pretty sure if you're doing that much interstate travel, your training routine is not what it normally is.

where did i say we dont need one? Basic comprehension isnt a strong suit. Its just not all doomsday. And i'd imagine the players and staff arent as catastrophic as the fans on here about not having caulfield.

Yes, the players and coaches famously talk about how much they love driving out to Casey and how good our facilities are....

The thing is if we were permanently based at Casey it'd be shit, but at least it'd be consistent.

Club going from Goschs to Casey to random private gyms/ovals is an embarrassment when we are the ONLY club in the league who has to do this. I'm reasonably optimistic about our long term outlook on field but until we fix the off-field I can't see us ever having sustained success.

Should just move them to Launceston. Then we can have the Launceston Demons and the Hobart Devils. We could even have a competition between the two clubs who will build their training facilities more quickly.

We really should be pushing for Waverley Park. Then if/when Caulfield is ready we move there. Realistically if Caulfield gets the go ahead it’ll be years away from being ready to go.
Don't think it's confirmed yet, but the talk seems to be the Tigers beat us to the punch with Waverley. Guerra said it's not an option for us at the AGM.

Not sure how long the tigers will be out of Punt Rd. Maybe we could jump into Waverley after they go back once the renovation is done.

Punt Rd won't be ready until probably late 2027. They've around 2030 as a potential date for Caulfield to be ready, if (and it's a bloody big if) it goes ahead and there's no significant delay. Probably not really worth moving at that stage?

Possibly. I guess a wait and see on Caulfield date of completion if ever. Personally think Caulfield gets the go ahead. But will be years off completion. If it drags they’ll have to look elsewhere but sounds like all eggs in Caulfield basket.

Going to Waverley is not an improvement on what we got now, half of the players will still have to go to Casey, because our VFL side will still be based there, the admin world still be at the MCG, and the women's side will still be out at Casey, and going to Waverley permanently is a step backwards and still won't solve many many problems, because we'll still have our VFL side at Casey, it's pointless, so instead of going from gosh's paddock to Casey we're going from Waverley to Casey not much of an improvement. Casey is not going anywhere and on occasion the players will still be going there.

And the facilities at AAmi Park are top class, so what if they have to share them with the Melbourne Strom, who by the way have exactly the same facilities and there training Oval is based in the same area as the Demons are, and they're doing just fine by the way

It’s more of the stop gap rather than permanent. Even if for a couple of seasons it might be better. I’m not across the logistics of it all. I’m terms of where we’ll be and when. I think we have a partnership with city of Casey for a while so suspect we’ll do the odd day there for sometime.
Many players speak of the drive to Casey. So it’s not the worst to move in a little closer.

Heard we are considering purchasing the Moe Caravan Park and turning that into our facilities to tempt Bailey Humphrey. It's right across the road from the Moe racecourse so Caulfield/Moe = same/same

If the rumour has a caravan in it, it is bound to be true

What? Do you have any understanding of how training is setup? AFL players train with the AFL team.
the admin world still be at the MCG
No it wouldn't.
and the women's side will still be out at Casey
Sounds fine to me. Casey facilities are very good for AFLW.

What are you even on about? Casey is our VFL team no matter where the training base is.

It's literally 22km closer to Casey, and out of Punt Rd traffic. Thought a trucker would know this.
And the facilities at AAmi Park are top class
Hahaha what? If that was the case, why would we even be looking at Caulfield?
