One of the great mysteries of the universe. It is an interesting point. I remember asking one of the Freo morons ( I think it was Ripper) years ago about this very thing.
Apparently our home crowd is quiet, only makes noise when we're winning, spends more time knitting, sipping Chards etc... where as Freo's crowd is loud, passionate, never leave before the end of the game, diehard.....
Yet, we intimidate the umpires into giving us lots of unwarranted softies and Freo get nothing with their passionate loud supporters. I'm confused.![]()

Tackle lower. Problem solved. Or, get to the ball first more often than your opposition so you're not forced to tackle as often. Something else you can try.
Baaaallllllllllllllll
Naaaaaaaooohhhhhhhhh
Boooooooooooooooooooo
Is that what happens at Simmonds stadium?
Wouldn't happen at Subi - we are too busy sipping chardy and knitting socks.
It happens every where
Some are worse then others
Then also said our home crowd was responsible for giving us more freekicks than anywhere in the country. So kudos to our fans for creating a cauldron like atmosphere and supporting our blokes!![]()
But I thought we were aging old knitters who couldn't turn up the volume to save our lives and we should surrunder our memberships to ITW members??![]()
If I supported Collingwood, I'd swear you were talking about a spotted cat.I think that was when we weren't on top of the ladder, now we are pure evil, ducking cheater supporters.

A crowd influencing the officials is nothing new. It's a significant component of home ground advantage.
