8-30am and there's no GameDay thread for the home showdown. Seems we care as much about it as the players and coaches.

Selection says we're aiming to not lose by too much, so it can fall in the 'honourable loss' basket.

Crows by 5 goals, with the positive that change is one less week away.

No one really brimming confidance over there. Apparently we are 4 wins out of the last 5 home showdowns. Also the fact that nobody knows which Port is going to show up.

Hopefully the one Ken doesn't coach.

No point in a scrappy 35 point loss.

I'd much prefer Hinkley to have to front up after his second consecutive 90+ point belting, this time against the one team he cannot allow that to happen against. How's the 'one more crack' going, Ken?

A true Port Adelaide captain would declare "we are going to respond".

Connor wants to respond but Daddy isn't under any pressure and it's a tough competition and someone has to lose so more than likely won't be bothered. Even if we're smashed by the Camry Crows our pea hearted players will still be "good humans" in the eyes of their Daddy.

Expecting a big Camry Crows win following yet another embarrassing performance in the Prison Bars under the tutelage of loser Kenny Hinkley.

Looking at the team, realistically the only way we're kicking a winning score is if MG and SPP buck their recent trend and are shockingly accurate - they'll get shots, and they can't waste a single one.

When DBJ and Richards pop-up in the right spot, they also must take them, as they won't get many. No Drew/Boak style blasting at goal.

We'd still need a couple from Rozee from half-back and JHF/Butters to chip in with a few from the midfield, not just if they spend any time forward.

It's a tall ask before a ball has been bounced.

(Of course there's also a slim chance Lord has another 4 goal game or Finalyson remembers how to play football - Showdowns can produce the unlikely).

These Showdowns have become a funny thing. After LVI of them plus countless pre-season and trial games, they've sort of become pedestrian.

Winning them is more a relief than anything and if we lose I tune footy out for a few days including the crows supporters at work who have been shitting on their team for 7 years telling me how great they are.

Can't say I'm feeling dread or anticipation. Of course I'm hoping the Port that played Hawthorn or good parts of most other games, excluding Collingwood and Bulldogs, turns up for four quarters.

I do expect a bounce back from last week and want to at least see a desperate tackling/pressure effort and some cohesive team play with dash and dare.

Will we win? Who knows. It's less than more likely but it's certainly possible.

Be nice to be fairly umpired this week.
