Hi guys,

I know we still have the ODI's this summer, but there's a few things I'm wondering about for the home Test series for 2012/13.

I know that we are playing South Africa, and possibly Sri Lanka, for 3 tests each, and I know that the Gabba will host the Proteas, and I believe RSA have their own 'Boxing Day test'.

I'm just wondering what the other fixtures are. Plus with the Adelaide Oval redevelopment starting around April this year, will AAMI Stadium (Football Park) in West Lakes host a Test, or will the SACA somehow manage to squeeze around 20k at AO during construction for the new East and South stands identical to the Western stand.

With Adelaide Oval, most people enter through the gates at the parts that will be rebuilt. Any opinions?

pretty sure i heard somewhere that adelaide is going back to a december test and that the australia day test was just a 1 yr comeback..

so with your theory above, the saffers will play brisbane, perth and adelaide and then head home. might squeeze a couple of early season one dayers in like we did against SL last yr.

then SL could play tests melbourne, sydney and probably hobart as the 6th test venue.

dunno what would happen to the 1 dayers..
adelaide oval will be used. GA on the northern hill and members stand in use.

Aus Day tests are usually India only. We then get the Australia day ODI usually, but I want a year off so I can listen to the hottest 100 properly.

When the SL Series starts depends on when their scheduled home series against NZ finishes (which is played at the same time as Aus vs RSA). Boxing Day would probably be the first test but won't be surprised if the first test (Hobart or Perth likely) is played before.

Given Hobart's crowd figures I won't be surprised at all if Sydney hosts 2 tests next summer either (one against both RSA and SL).

Why would you give Sydney 2 tests? If it was purely about crowds then wouldn't you be better to hold 2 in Melbourne?

CA need to make sure that they don't get a total green top in Hobart again and schedule it better so that they get the weekends in to maximise attendences.

I'm pretty sure the summer plan is October/November 3 tests vs RSA, then December 5 ODI's. Sri lanka will then play Boxing day, New years, and probably adelaide before having ODI's late January(including aus day in Adelaide).

i doubt they would take a test of Hobart and give it to sydney, thats just silly.

The problem with having the Adelaide test in late Jan these days is that it clashes with the Big Bash, which is not ideal in terms of test players being available for the latter.
Obviously the BBL has to happen in January for the school holiday crowds and such, so logically CA would work in a T20I/ODI series in harmony with the BBL. ADHD cricket for everyone!

Wasn't a problem this year...

If the Saffers get a Test at the WACA, wouldn't it be the first time in ages they have?

Since readmission, I don't think we've let them play a Test against us at the WACA. Maybe because they always had great quicks, and we had Warnie

I seem to remember Rudolph batting out a long ton to get a draw at the WACA a few years back. The same test we didn't declare until Hodge made his double.

That was back in 2005, and we had 120 overs.

(Have to fly the Victorina flag :) )

We never play the saffers in a full series because they want us to go there for a boxing day test. Mind you, thier crowd was 40,000 while ours was 170,000...

So presumably the Gabba, Hobart and Perth for the saffers, and the 'G, Sydney and Adelaide for the Sri Lankan's

It does leave a hold of a couple of weeks though

South Africa has played in Perth on their last two tours. There was that game as others have mentioned where Rudolph batted all day to save the match and then a few years later it was the game where Mitchell Johnson destroyed them in the first innings, but Smith and de Villiers hit tons in their second innings to chase down over 400.

Jeez I hate looking at the FTP.

We have so many pointless, bullshit, ODI series, like 5 away randomly in England, 7 in India. So stupid.

Also it seems we only have 4 tests in the '14/'15 summer. That seems dodgy.

world Cup in australia/NZL that year Jack.....
Ahh yes, of course. Still dodgy though.

Why do we need to have an ODI tri series with India/Eng right before an ODI world cup? Especially at the cost of test matches.

Not to mention the 5 ODI's against SA just before that test series.

Are you being serious!? The ODI World Cup is going to be held IN Australia/New Zealand right after that series. Those ODI series against 2 possible favourites is a godsend. What would you have in place? Another test match versus the Indians? Four seems good enough.
