I agree, if people are able to 'hate' homosexuals peacefully, (i.e. not be verbally or physically abusive), then who cares. It's no skin.

well thats simply not good enough.

On another note, I always laugh when some of my workmates whine about how hard it is to be male, hetero, middle-class and white. They go on about how there are woman celebration days, gay pride days, indigenous week, transgender rememberance, etc. ****** please.
!

Agree, that is a pathetic whinge and alot of guys really get into it.

Well yes.

Is it better than people abusing homosexuals in public and beating them up?

I'd suggest that the category of people tolerating but not really accepting - the I don't care as long as I don't see it - are the majority of the Australian population.

Probably correct, but isn't it familiarity that will engender acceptance? If all of a sudden it's normal to see two men kissing on the street no one will turn their head or be bothered by it. Little of a Catch 22 situation.

'In the privacy of their own homes' is islamic state thinking. It's partly why a lot of ignorant australians had a cry about 'little third-world sh*thole on the moon' Qatar winning the 2022 world cup.

Nigg*r please!

It's white hetero male day EVERY day of the year. It's still dominant western thinking. It's like a child complaining about Mother's and Father's day. If you want a celebration of all that is white, hetero and male, then do it!

the massive chip on the shoulder is one of the many things that ******s the normalisation of homosexuality

I think you will find that every day of the year heteros do not make a big song and dance about being hetero, they just do what they do. Saying every day is "white hetero male day" is a ridiculous comment. It will be fantastic when things like 'gay pride day' etc are no longer needed because homosexuality is just another normal thing that happens all the time, unfortunately continually reinforcing that you are different undermines that progression and the chip on the shoulder attitude puts people offside

No offense Roobs, but 1: I fail to se the connection, and 2: Qatar is a total sh*thole.

You missed the point of what I was saying

And the 'chip on the shoulder' attitude is a small proportion of each minority, hardly representative. Minority groups has never been about reinforcing differences, it has always been about acceptance and getting a fair go.

I don't think I did.

I think you might not have realised how your post comes across.

I don't doubt that most minority groups and movements start of with absolutely noble intentions but inevitably they are hijacked by extremists or the 'woe is me' brigade.

I don't know anything about you so I can only comment on the words you used in your post, which was very much chip on shoulder/woe is me.

If in talking extremists you are talking about activists, well to be honest every minority needs some activism going on, otherwise nothing would change. It doesnt have to take the form of protesting in the streets or anything, but there needs to be a little bit of defiance. Protesting might not be something the comfortable fully understand, and tend to associate with righteous uni students, but when you have basically no human rights, something needs to be done.
For instance, two weeks ago in Mexico a renowned transgender/womans rights activist was tortured and burned, and found dead in a ditch. This wasnt a transgender prostitute, but a psychologist that through activism had tried to make some change. One of her killers was her ex.
There have been 6 unsolved murders of feminist types in that town region since the beginning of 2012.
You have to speak to be heard. Im not saying every minority group individual has to be an activist, but a few need to be. This should not be confused with a 'chip on the shoulder' mentality, its just trying to gain equal rights, which for some minority groups even in Australia is still a way off.

Find it disgusting personally, but if they want to pack fudge in their bedroom, who am I to stop them?*

*no homo

If it aint part of the normal male perspective, then it's too mysterious and unknowable and i'll just learn about it on the TV.

Seems to be the mentality in most topics regarding gay men, women, etc. No critical thinking required, just say what they all say.

If in talking extremists you are talking about activists...

Not really, I'm talking about those whose beliefs have gone from "equal rights" to "superiority". The feminist movement turned that way once it had largely achieved its original aims of equal rights for women.

Christians aren't meant to criticise, look for "faults" and point out the "sin" of others, so that'd technically make them neutral on the subject, ye?
No they're not, and a real LOVING Christian wouldn't (or whole heartedly try) not to judge or turn away from a homosexual or a murderer, rapist, drug junkie, peadophile, war criminal OR ANY HUMAN!!!

THANK.YOU.

When over a third of a threads post in a thread have had to be deleted I think its a strong indication of where it is & where the thread itself is heading.

Maybe when people can play nice.
