when clubs draft players from interstate they are suplied a host family to take care of them outta training and such

On this topic then i heard that last yr Tom Hawkins lived with a host family?
 
It's usually people who work around the club for a long time in a voluntary role. At Wibdy Hill a lot of the people who ran the social club hosted players.
 
He does, yes, with Joel Selwood.

You have to be directly linked with the club in someway - past player, committee member or past/current employee to be even considered as a host family.

Exactly, you have to have been involved with the club for many years, after all, some of these kids are only 17/18, they have to ensure their safety & wellbeing.
