Latest rumour with Crowley is that he's depressed. Hopefully he can find a way through before too long.
It is amazing how common this is becoming for young adult males. I once thought of depression as requiring something to be depressed about and looking at a successful fit healthy young guy suffering from depression was and still is a bit confusing.

Clearly the black dog doesn't discriminate.

No I dont want a wrist slapping - purely from a selfish Port point of view. A wrist slap will mean a Wada appeal who will by pass the Appeals Board and straight to CAS which could take another 12-18 months to get a final result. That means a 12-18 month provisional suspension status for our 2 players which means they could miss all of 2015 and 2016. a 12 month suspension backdated to early June last year is probably the best result which given the Cronulla result I cant see WADA appealing that ruling.
So how many games would Ryder, monfries miss?

Rd 12 is 20th June and we have the bye the next week. I think Phhht calculated that the investigation finished early or mid June, so we are looking at minimum 9 (May 30th) and maximum 12 under this scenario depending on the exact date it is backdated to.

I can't see the Eseendon players getting much if anything.Based on as much as I have read on the subject I feel it's going to be a 6 month ban, players missing 1st 2 games or nothing at all.Case has been a farce from the start, with all the stop/starts in it, and back dating and the players gave more assistance then Cronulla did that's my guess as to what will happen. Also I'm no expert on this subject just basing that on what I have read.

Just because Cronulla got 6 months bans backdated doesn't mean this lot will.Cronulla were far more compliant than Essendon and it's players.

Yeah not really mate. The cronulla players pleaded guilty. Essendon players are still fighting, 2 years later
That's the bit that gets me with the whole thing, if they honestly believe they did nothing wrong and were misled, what are they supposed to do, just cop to something they honestly didn't do, and cop the smear that goes with the guilty plea or fight?I feel they should have distanced themselves from Hird's rubbish but alas not to be.

But it is the afl tribunal making the decision so don't think there is any relation to the Cronulla penalties. Of course asada is looking on but i suspect the bans would need to be a fair bit undercooked before they would step in.

Yeah i dont have an issue with the players, if they honestly think they did nothing wrong, and not pleading guilty. But you cant really say that ASADA will go easier on them than the Cronulla guys coz they gave more assistance, if they are found guilty which to me looks most likely.

Wasn't the Hird action his alone, the players didn't join in but waited to see the legal outcome of the Hird legal fight. Surely that's their right.

Court to rule whether players should stand with Hird
In a letter to ASADA on June 18, the players’ lawyers told the agency the players did not want to join the action, and further submissions from Essendon and Hird also state the players do not want to join the fight.

“At this stage, we see no necessity for our clients to seek to be joined to recently issued proceedings,” the players’ letter said.

Of course they have that right, but once the SCNs were sent, the players fought those notices. If they are found guilty, you cant say that they gave more assistance than the Cronulla guys.

Hird's legal action didnt impact the Essendon players choice to fight the SCNs.

But how did they fight them? The show-cause notices were issued in June 2014 before the Hird and Essendon legal actions commenced. Again the players waited to see the outcomes of those legal challenges.

Fresh show-cause notices were issued in October 2014, the Hird and Essendon legal challenges petered out, the players accepted infraction notices in November 2014 and hearings commenced in December 2014.

If ASADA's process is so riddled with holes that they couldn't pursue their case for 2 years is that the players' fault? This started back in February 2013, blackest day in Australian sport and all that and it's still uncertain what supplements the players took.

I'm not arguing the whole process isnt long-winded, especially with legal actions thrown into the mix. I'm saying you cant expect ASADA (lets face it, they will be setting the punishment) to go easier on the Essendon players because they provided more assistance when compared to the Cronulla players.

*this is on the assumption that they will be found guilty.

The election dragged it on as well as ASADA are a government department, I have no faith in them at all anymore.Just counting down to March 31st as we will finally have a answer to whether or not Gus and Paddy can finally play.
