The age is running with "effectively sacked" which I guess is the best way to put it.

Wasnt Sheedy asked if he would continue for the season? I thought if it was a simple case of non-renewal, his services were a given. Why would he have a choice? His option to resign is always there.

Cant resign from a job you've been "sacked" from though

Technically no but he wanted the job he has had for over a quarter a century, I consider it a sacking.

I think it's the wrong decision as I think he could well have coached us to our next premiership. He has rebuilt the side 3 or 4 times to a premiership level so I had every confidence he could do it again.

Nevertheless I look forward to being able to give him a good send off and am excited about getting a new coach. Who knows he could end up better.

Did Kevin Sheedy want to coach Essendon next season? Yes
Did the Essendon board let him? No

Thats close enough to a sacking in my book. (Although i do understand the point Longy is making)

If the words "fired", "sacked", "given the boot", "let go", "removed", "replaced", or "tosssed into the dustbin" are inaccurate and offensive, perhaps we can simply say Sheedy was "outsourced". He was certainly not allowed to leave on his own terms, not that he'd earned that right, seeing that he'd only been working there for 27 years.
