But Geelong is stopped. In the top 4. It’s all relative. If Geelong were playing their oldest 22/23 every week it would be an issue. They are not. The back line core will be together for the next 5+ years.

Chris has pushed his chips in - I like the play. For now Geelong is stopped and have been very close the last few tries. Perhaps there will be no pain for Geelong, but usually there is when you let your list get to this point.

They have a whole regional city to draw from. A city whose population are 98% Geelong supporters.
How could any player or club not be be stimulated by that environment?

There’s a drawback though, in that we’re not able to offer big city lifestyle and big club crowds.

That's not a drawback at all. Geelong has everything without the bussle. And the players play in big enough crowds in Geelong and away games.

Yes it is. Not having the “bustle” is something that most people - particularly younger people - see as a negative. Most Australians live in a capital city.

They live there for the employment opportunities and money. That's not a factor with AFL footballers.
Other than that Geelong has the same things a capital city has to offer a young person, without the bustle.

Geelong's biggest challenge this year is playing Gold Coast who'll have nothing to play for in Rd 22, West Coast who haven't had anything to play for all year and throw up the white flag at KP anyway in Rd 23 then having a bye before QF week. That's not an ideal preparation leading into a final against someone out of Melbourne/Brisbane/Collingwood/Freo/Sydney.

There's a bye before finals. Not sure form at the end of the home and away season is relevant. Any momentum is halted.

I'd rather our run in than say Melbourne's, Brisbane's or Collingwood's. We'll have basically played six mini finals in seven weeks, heading into those final two rounds.

We ended the H&A last year with a clash for the minor premiership and squandered a seven goal lead to Melbourne which saw us not only relinquish first place, but end up in third with a road trip to play Port in week 1 of the finals. I'm quite comfortable with an away trip against the Suns and then a home game against the Eagles as a tune up to round out the H&A rounds.

Our best would be good enough just depending if we bring it on the day.

Plenty of Melbourne and interstate Cats end up staying in the region after their playing days are over. Can't remember losing too many Tim Kelly style to the go-home factor. If you can make a decent living down the surf coast or Bellarine, there's worse places you could live.
