Is anyone else here super confident???

I just can not fathom an interstate team, coming to our city, our ground, rolling us in a game that means so much!

Not the Essendon team I have come to know and love the past 3 years.

Not the Essendon team that was devastated in 99.

Not the Essendon who only lost 1 game last year.

Not the Essendon who finished top this year.

The main board seems to have everyone tipping (praying??) Brisbane to roll us.

I honestly think people have forgotten the Essendon side we all know so well.

Roy Jones Junior, bemused at his lack of respect, wrote a song called "Ya'll musta forgot!"

I am confident we will be able to sing a similar song after this Saturday.

"Ya'll musta forgot you were playing Essendon!"
"Ya'll musta forgot our reputation has built up the past few years, not the last couple quarters!"

Ya'll musta forgot - but this week, ya'll will remember who we are!!

I'm quietly confident that if Merc's and Hirdy play we've got the goods to get over the line, but make no mistake I'm not under-rating Brisbane.

Forget the "they can't win in Melbourne" stuff. This is a GF and they'll be pumped.

All I can say is win lose or draw I'll be there.

Go Bombers!

Never said they cant win in Melbourne. Im sure they can.

However, Im not confident any interstate team would be able to beat us in Melbourne in a big game.

Hell, the last time we got rolled by an interstate side in melbourne was rnd 13 of 98 - and it was only by 9 points!

pure and simple, james hird wont let us lose
he will play a huge game this week, you can just feel it
champions lift in grand finals
and we have got plenty
and matty lloyd has something to prove
he said it today, he has something to give back to the boys for giving him the opportunity to play in a grannie
and our backline was super yesterday, back to the way it was in 99,2000
solid and plenty of drive
our forward line let us down, but i wont expect that again

I'm quietly confident, but wary at the same time.

We havn't been playing well for the last 9 weeks, or so, and I just hope that we can lift our form for the game that matters the most.

Our edge in "MCG- knowhow" and big game atmosphere could be the variable that tips the scales in our favour.

ditto.
I'd love to be as confident as you smokin, but the facts are that Brisbane have had much better form of late.

However, I do have confidence in the heart we show game after game. The way the boys manage to find something when the momentum is going so strongle against them. If anyone can beat Brisbane, it's Essendon (of course, we'll have to, but I'm sure you know what I mean), and I think we really need this one.

Quietly confident. I'm not going to say much this week. I'm going to keep a pretty low profile. The players will do all the talking on Saturday and will come out hard knowing that there is no next week.

The boys will give a good account of themselves and Sheedy will instill an us vs them mentality. Essendon looks to have been written off by all and sundry. Our team won't mind this.

I too am feeling that quiet confidence. I think that with the majority of attention focused on the opponent, along with most of the early tips and odds going with them, that Essendon merely needs to go about its business.

There were so many times this season where the media wrote Essendon off....after the Ansett Cup, after Carlton, after Brisbane, after Carlton (again)....heck, even during the 3rd quarter of the PF. We have been resilient in each case and I like to think we will be resilient again.

are people reading to much into brisbane beating richmond so easily
they beat them by 68 points at the gabba after having a week off
we beat them by 70 points at the mcg (rich home ground) after losing to them the week before

our form against hawthorn wasnt great, but we did have a lot good signs
the backline was better than its been all year and players like caracella, rama, blumfield, heff started to give a bit more

the other thing is, we won with no input from hird, mercuri and lloyd
3 of our top 5

I thought both Rich and Port were pathetic against Brisbane.

I dont care what anybody says, the jury is still out regarding them beating a top side in Melbourne.

They havnt played a real, hard, physical final. We have played 2. We belted Rich, but at least they had a go against us. They didnt turn up in Brisbane!

The weather is always perfect up there, makes them look better, a bit like colonial. If the G is windy, as it has been the past month, watch them struggle.

We had an absolute shocker in Bris this year. We had players out, kept kicking points, fletcher got reported twice - just a all round bad night. They only beat us by 4 goals - and had to flood as well! We havnt forgoten that loss.

This is a Grand Final - we have proven ourselves in tight, tough finals. They havnt been in one, let alone proven themselves in one.

Im not 100% sure guys like Black, Akermanis and Lappin like the tough, phsyical games.

Watch the interviews - they are rapt just to be in the GF! Watch the Essendon interviews, cool and calm, no emotion. We arnt happy to be here, we expect to be here! Our season starts this week!

In the words of Sheedy - "Lets see who bleeds this week!"

Im confident!

What, like you have for the last ten weeks or so?

Didn't hear about the missing players the week before, did we? All we heard about was your "depth". Face it, we COMFORTABLY won, and we beat you using tactics. Simple.

Im not 100% sure guys like Black, Akermanis and Lappin like the tough, phsyical games.

Try watching then. Black 2nd in HARD ball gets in the league. All these guys beat hard tags week in, week out.

Um, no they're not. Its unfinished business, and things are still subdued. No emotion? Yeah right. Sheedy is already crying!

Lets, bring it on!

Im confident!

So am I!

You comfortably won? You won by 4 goals, in Brisbane, while guys like Fletcher and Barnard missed easy set shots from 35 odd metres out. I was there - we left the game saying that was one off night we had, nothing went our way! Those thoughts were echoed in the media I remember.

Yea, dont worry about the missing players. I mean, Alessio, Barnes, Caracella, Moorcroft, Long, Mercuri, Misiti and Blumfield wouldnt get a game at any other club, would they? Havnt mentioned Wallis, who also missed, and may play this weekend.

Notice we had no ruckman at all - Hille played that night, and Keating gave him a bath, and subsequently you had first use of the ball.

Things subdued in Brisbane?? Hmm, Voss giggling like a girl saying "gee, its weird having this many cameras around" sounds normal? The Scotts tripping over their words, showing they have no idea about media work showed a bit of uncomfortability there.

Aka winning the Brownlow would help subdue anything either.

Just like last year, we are playing a team that has the brownlow meadalist. Can only be a good omen for us, as we smashed Melbourne last year, and Woewodin didnt get a kick!

We all know that hard ball gets mean nothing - they actual definition of a hard ball get isnt what most people think hard play is. Basically, not directly receiving the ball is a hard ball get. A ruckman taking the ball from a boundary throw in is a hardball get. Picking up a lose ball in traffic is a hardball get apparently.

If you dont think those players, and the fact the game is in Melbourne doesnt equal at least 4 goals, your kidding yourself!

It promises to be a good game.

But something inside me is very confident.

I remember watching Bris-Coll at the G, and thinking, gee there is a big difference between Bris in Bris, and in Melbourne.

I also thought our win over Richmond was more impressive than yours, location and score proves that, but people seem to only remember our last half against Hawthorn.

Time will tell!!
