That record passed to the Swans several years ago, they are now 70 seasons and counting without glory, this season coming is thier 71st since they won a Premiership.
It took St Kila 69 years to win a Premiership.

BTW - the Saints didn't play in '16 and '17. [/B]

The Swans were out in 1916 and 17 as well.
St Kilda were also dropped out of the competition after round 10 in 1943, because Geelong didn't play and the clubs didn't like the bye system.
Hoonose and all, I have a problem with your reasoning. 1966 does not, can not, count as a season in the equasion of "years without a premiership". We won it in that year, duh! It took St Kilda 69 seasons to win a VFL premiership.
Sydney/South has been without a premiership since 1933, which is 71 seasons ago. If they win the premiership this season, it has taken them 71 seasons.
This is according to the official stats book.

What are we worrying about this for?

Not worrying, per se, just like my stats is all. I'll grab any reason to sound superior and knowledgable!![]()

Right, I came on here originally to point out for the benefit of those Saints supporters that did'nt know of the passing of an abysmal record to the Swans.
Get some sort of posts going on what is, as the topic implies a pretty pathetic site.
I still maintain they had to play that 70th season before winning the premiership.
At the conclusion of 70 VFL seasons the Saints held the silverware aloft, whether they played in all 70 is irrelevant.
As to the Swans, you only repeated everything I had already stated.
When it's all said and done, be it 69 or 70, it's an atrocious record in any sport by any team that should have been grounds for relegation from the competition long before ever getting that state.
People lived and died there entire lives in that time, 2 world wars, women given the vote, countless inventions and the dear old Saints still could'nt find a winning formula, was 69 years in the planning if anything.
I'm outa here in case losing is contagious.
