Odds are Adelaide will have pick 2.
For our side of the trade it’s Stocker and hopefully Papley.
Stocker looks a likely type and the extra 12 months development will be invaluable.
Round 1 2020, Papley and Stocker are starting and contributing best 22 players with a decade in front of them.

Congratulations Adelaide - you will be receiving Pick 2 now that we have bottled it against a Melbourne team without Gawn playing. SOS needs to be sacked for this absolute shocking trade since Pick 2 this year will be another Sam Walsh.
Apologise for my reply yesterday, it was in the heat of the moment like yours was.

Pretty sure I read somewhere that SOS planned for our first round pick to be on the table regardless of where it is. He probably didn't think it would be as high as pick 2 or there abouts, but the trade is still a good one IMO.

A critical part of this trade is whether or not the pick carlton receives back is traded for established quality. If someone of note is traded in, along with stocker would make the trade a win win

Exactly. If we trade it for Papley, the net result is pick 2 (Rowell?) for Papley and Stocker. That’s not a bad trade at all.

Let’s not play games this deal has gone sour. The currency that is pick 2 is too valuable to trade for stocker/ pick 11?
The deal sos made was a master stroke but unfortunately we had a coach that was in way above his head and the board have a lot to answer for for not sacking him after a 2 win season. Bolton was clueless and now the club will pay a bit more for his incompetence.

I had you on the missing persons list.

It’s only fair
In all seriousness. if the AFL grant Gold Coast a PP after denying us one last year then they will prove that that they are a bunch of cheats who don't give a stuff about the struggling Victorian clubs.
Watch it happen, and there will be no outrage from anyone. Gold Coast did not have to trade May last year, he was contracted and they chose to do so for draft picks. This was the reasoning other clubs and the media brought up as a reason why we should not get one.
Gold Coast have a better win/loss record that we do over the last few years and are sitting on the same number of wins as us.
When they do receive one then Adelaide are not getting pick 2.

This is so wrong in so many ways

How about doing the post mortem at the end of the season, then give it at least 4 years to assess the true outcome

You don't win or lose games with the value of picks, just the players you lose or gain

The deal isn't sour just yet and to be fair, can't be honestly evaluated for some time yet, unless one subscribes to counting points.

Coach was over his head but the club really did do the right thing through this process.
It's not as though we had quality prospective coaches knocking on our door for a way in. We simply didn't at the time.

The club can't be paying for Boltons incompetence alone, any more than we can blame Malthouse, or Ratten before him.
The club is ultimately held responsible, but given all the circumstances....at least we did try and do things honestly. It didn't work out, but so what?

If you do just count points, the difference between Pick 2 and 11 + 19 is the equivalent to Pick 53. Hardly a tragedy.

If you replace Pick 19 with Stocker, it values Stocker at Pick 14. I'm fine with that.

To somehow equate the Stocker pick with Bolton’s coaching is next level clueless. I know who is in over their head and it’s not Bolton.

I'm not fussed about the trade - it is what it is.....For those however who jump down the throats of those who think we've messed up...I'm pretty sure if we were in Adelaide's shoes there would be a vast number gloating how we pulled their pants down - not convinced we would be using the "wait for 4 years" argument.
