Victorian member since 93. Travel to a couple of interstate games each year, although I've never been to WA. So i guess my win/loss ratio as an attendee wouldnt be too great. Was lucky enough to be at 94 and 06 GFs though.

Am a Vic member through my AFL membership for the last couple of years (prior wasn't aware I could nominate West Coast as club of choice). Have been to a couple of interstate games (Eagles v Tigers when Cox got KO'd.....) and the 2005 & 2015 grand finals.

Probably have a win/loss record when seeing them play live that even Melbourne fans wouldn't envy.

Please don't go to any more GF's. Thanks

Parents were members way back when but gave them up rather than trying to find babysitters for my sister and I once a fortnight. I was like WTF did you do that for and got my own membership in 2003.

Getting GF tickets was so stressful in 05/06 that when I got my first fulltime job in 2012 I decided I would buy a package every year and go to every GF. Seen too many bloody Hawks flags. :( Though I got to see Freo lose one. Guess that has made it worth it. ;)

I don't get to many games live, I've never been a big fan of the Subi experience.

I suspect this will change with the new stadium on the horizon.

What turns you off?

Just curious as I once worked with a pleb that insisted watching games on TV is better than attending. I had to stop myself vomiting on his head.

In fairness (if it's a non blockbuster home and away game ), I would rather watch on tv than sit in restricted seating or at ground level directly behind the goals
In fact - the main reason I became an ITW member was because I became sick of the crappy public reserve seats (I wonder if that pleb has ever sat anywhere else?)
Otherwise - I much prefer going to the game
Even the weather doesn't deter me

Subi is a shithole to be fair.
I don't get the hate for Subi
Nor the disproportionate love for the MCG
(Yes , I'm bitter that the best MCG seats are reserved for AFL members , even when games involving our side never sell out and therefore , those seats could easily be released to the public /opposition members )
Etihad is underrated from a spectator POV

Yep Subi is a pretty poor ground, but I'd rather sit in shitty seats and get soaked to the bone and lose my voice watching the Eagles get over the line than on TV. Nothing compares in regards to being a sports fan to being there in person to watch your team.

Seats and viewing are marginally different ground to ground, it's only the off field stuff that I've noticed to be different.

Better food variety, better alcohol, amenities with no wait, access to and from the ground far superior.

Seriously, **** waiting all of half-time for a "Subi-burger" and a warm midstrength cup of piss. And no joke it took them over a decade to fix the lock on the shitter door at the toilets in my block.

Edit: and it'd be nice to be able to rock up to a game and get admission purely on a whim.

I'm the opposite - the off-field stuff doesn't matter to me at all, because there's always going to be better food /drink available outside the grounds
And I avoid the toilets at footy grounds
I doubt there would be "no wait" at the Grand Final, or at other such sell outs
I don't think comparing a half full game v our near sell outd grounds is a fair comparison
Having said that - the new stadium will improve the off-field stuff
I'm more interested in the seats themselves though and viewing positions
Adelaide Oval is the best stadium I've been to
Offered better seats for competing clubs/the public than etihad or MCG ever have (despite there being more demand there ), with decent off-field stuff too and an amazing atmosphere . The only downer was getting stuck in foot traffic on my way out
(Have never had this problem at Subi!)

Subi has terrible amenities - expensive food (Victorian venues serve much cheaper food), mid strength drinks (at Adelaide oval you can get full strength), no leg room (Etihad and school more leg room) and hard to get around (Etihad and easy to move around).

The sooner the stadium in Perth is built the better but I suspect the cost to eat and drink there are still going to be rudely high.

I'm glad that we don't sell full-strength beer
(For all the criticism our crowds cop- there's more unruly /nasty behaviour interstate )
Agree the food is expensive , but only to a similar extent as the rest of the city (Perth in general overpays for coffee , food etc )
Besides - there's always better food outside the ground
Leg room has never been an issue for me , anywhere (probably the only good thing about being short .....)
I'm sure most people would be happy to pay more for a superior product

The off-field stuff isn't a priority, but it's nice to have. Even making your way around the ground to catch up with mates is nearly impossible during breaks, it's like a shitty night club.

In regards to the no wait stuff, I was at the MCG for the ANZAC game last year that had about 90000. The place was like a well oiled machine compared to Subi.

The new stadium is going to much better for seating and getting in and out, going to toilets will be much improved

However, aside from not having to wait in line as long the crappy over priced food and watered down beer in plastic cups will be the same

Never had an issue with this prior to this year
But I will admit that earlier in the year (after winning a pre-game event prize, which involved being on the ground within a few minutes of the bounce .... ) -we had to give up trying to scramble back to our allocated seats and instead ended up sitting in different ones (which were much better too). Thankfully there were lots of empty seats that game

Very different to my most recent experience, despite a much smaller crowd (v Richmond at the MCG last year )
But I think it varies depending on which part of the ground you're on (that goes for everywhere , not just the MCG)
I'll be at the SF v Hawks/Geelong if we make it- can't wait!

I hope not. MCG and SCG have a decent variety of food, hope they can do something similar.

I don't eat or drink at the footy anymore as I can't justify spending $30 on something I'm not really going to enjoy. Would be nice get excited for a half decent meal there.
