Top 5 to ten 'valuable/best' footballers on our list.
JK
Shuey
NicN
Gov
Yeo
Darling
....
Lecras
Wellingham
Shep
Hurn

Could argue about the order of those guys above him listed above.. however he's better than the rest of the list bar those guys.
Ask yourself the question..
'who is better'?
Putting Lecras up against others on list, player by player.
You know it's not 2010 anymore right?

Wellingham? He was dropped and will be lucky to stay on the list

The hate Lecras gets on this board is laughable, he had a hip injury earlier in the year which restricted him, but when he's not injured he contributes.
Keep Schofield, Mackenzie, Cripps and Hutchings as depth (if we had better depth the last 2 should also be delisted)
Delist Masten, Wellingham, Hill and Giles
Too many potatoes to count

So if LeCras cops another bump in the pre-season, do we have to put up with another year of that slop that he dished up? Nobody would mind if the coach had the cojones to drop him when he can't perform....

Some of the suggestions are laughable; you can't simply delist a quarter of your squad and top them up with picks in the 100s. If you want to be competing, you need a best 22, as well as depth, or you are an injury away from falling off a cliff.

With Priddis, Mitchell, Butler and Petrie retiring, plus Giles and likely Hill gone, there's really only room for one or two cuts. I would trade Masten and Schofield if I could get anything for them. They are of AFL standard but not needed by us. LeCras stays, Wellingham is depth, as is Hutchings.

If we want to turn things around immediately, it will have to be at the trade table.

Name some games in the last 3 years hes performed against a top 6 team

I really struggle here - its always been sfa against good teams or away and bulk goals against garbage at home

if lecras was injured as everyone keeps saying why couldnt he be rested or even put on the lti to heal and provide 100% benefit upon a full recovery?

i call bullshit.
It's been reported on numerous occasions that he has been carrying a hip injury for a fair part of the season. You may recall he didn't play for 2-3 weeks with this and then was picked to play again. Sometimes you can have an injury that does not restrict you from playing but you just can't play at 100% efficiency. Also due to injuries to other players, we did not have a heap to call upon?

Agreed but with his age i think rest wouldve been a better solution maybe he thought if he didn't play and someone took over hed be delisted.

........ and/or by way of Free Agency.

IF Le Cras and Cripps were indeed injured and subsequently out of sorts this year as a result, i cant see for the life of me why they werent sent to the WAFL for a week or two to find some form or fitness.

Either A) our medical and list management team are clueless and deserve a kick in the ass for playing guys that were clearly well underdone.

Or

B) they werent really injured (or not substantially). Rather, it was an excuse in ass covering to justify prolonged selection despite long periods of poor form.

I personally think option B is the more plausible.

Due to injury to the key 2nd tier players there probably weren't the players to come in to replace them. Also sometimes an injured experienced player goes better in a final when compared to an untried 2nd tier player. Didn't Le Cras still manage 2 goals against GWS. He went better than JK or Darling.

First test for our offseason list management failed by retaining a player who is so obviously past it :crossmark:

Typically holding on to too much dead wood, for too long, it's the clubs mantra. I'd hate to be Karpany, Rioli, or even Venables next year as it looks like a full time gig in the starting 22 forward line has just been filled by a 32 year old.

Fine with those two getting one year.

I still think we look better with only two Defenders and maybe an extra if we play an overly tall team so Emac for a year makes sence.

Leccra on the other hand is an odd one in that if he did leave we dont lose anything as we have Rioli, Karpany and Cripps all playing that role with Lamb and Waterman also in the wings. If he is fine with playing at EP and is used for depth then i am 100% fine with his re-signing.
