How deep can we cut?

Lecras - Keep. Despite what everyone thinks, he had a shit patch of form, not an entirely shit season. Send him for surgery, get Rioli fit and get the forwards some delivery.

Masten - Trade if possible. If he was worth anything it'd be nice to trade him but can't see him being traded. Can play better than he has but would like for him to be depth only now.

Schofield - Keep, if ever they get tired of having too many big talls, could try use Schofield as a rebounding tall. Maybe get him to drop weight now that he doesn't have to be the fullback, has always looked better when running.

Wellingham - Keep. Can tackle, better depth than Masten, may be able to come in and make a physical impact.

Hill - Probably gone, copped unfair criticism from the coaching staff and was often the scape goat, hasnt fought hard in the wafl though.

Giles - Gone, hard to believe he's still on an AFL list really.

Mackenzie - Keep, but maybe the 3 bulky talls down back isn't the right mix.

I don't care who goes as long as the spud LeCras is out. He has stunk up the forward line for 3 years now. He may have a lot of mates at the club, but his time is up. He is just in it for the money. Nobody can forget his dreadful games throughout this year.
No doubt he would be able to teach the kids. But I agree with your summary TBH. Harsh, but probably fair.

Someone may have already mentioned this but when are we likely to hear about delistings? Simmo said on 6PR last night that a lot of exit interviews were done when East Perth finished up.

Would it be as soon as this week?

It would seem the club don't have much faith in Lamb given the fact there have been times when other forwards have been injured and he wasn't selected. So you could make a good argument for him being delisted, however, I think the greatest thing in his favour is he is only 20 (21 next month) and has had some injuries. So maybe one more year on the list.
Also lets see how his competitors (e.g. Waterman) develop. It may be that this time next year Lamb is even further back in the queue - and with little good WAFL form to justify him keeping his spot. Wait and see I reckon.
Plus I think there will be - or should be - lots of delistings (and retirements) and that may also save Lamb.

lambs not a forward he is a winger club gave up on that experiment mid season

Yeah you would think it will filter out soon.

Hit's the nail on the head with his honest assessment of our list (hyperbole aside i.e. Ablett comments) and uninspired coaching is spot on.

Plus anyone that gets unbridled joy from beating the Dockers twice and includes the following assessment of our recruiters can't be too far of the mark:

"The Eagles don't have a habit of landing a big fish during trade week. It's likely the Eagles will get some washed up ex-West Aussie who wants to head back to Perth to start an organic strawberry farm".

The club simply must take a rebuild approach or we will ensconced in mediocrity for the foreseeable future, dining off Dockers victories (and that isn't going to fill stadiums too often).

O% Chance he's not on here every day mining the comments for his next article. Looks to me like an expat journalist who wound up in WA and somehow got a gig writing about AFL. Seriously, delist Rotham? The blokes just cast his eye over the list and wondered to himself, "Rotham, never heard of him. Delist." Apart from the fact the kid looks pretty talented, he's got another year to go on his first contract.

"It's time the Eagles admitted recruiting one-time Sydney speedster Lewis Jetta was an abject failure."
Has he seen how bad Callum Sinclair has been? The guy tripped over himself in the goal square.

Not sure he has enough credibility to even post here. The midfield has been the problem for years and was made worse this year by having no ruckmen although admittedly Vardy and Petrie tried their hearts out. Anyone playing as a forward would struggle given the amount of ball that went into our forward line and the backline had to cope with a huge amount of entries from the opposition. Clearly we need some pace in the middle but even mediocre pace would be better than having Priddis clog up the midfield. If we could land some reasonable consistent mids, that would be great but I doubt there are any we could get from trade. We don't know how our younger players will go as they haven't been given a real opportunity but if they can step up and join Shuey, Redden Sheed and Gaff it would go some way towards building a better midfield. If we could then snag 1 or 2 from eiher the draft or WAFL it may turn out OK. The reality is you can't just turn a whole list over in 1 draft period unless you get an armchair ride like GWS, Sydney, Brisbane, GC, St Kilda and Melbourne. Lets not forget everyone thought Adelaide would suffer as their midfield were seen as crap after last year.

Awesome.
Public Pressure needs to go on the club big time.
It's the only things that works ie. partington selection.

The most public pressure will come from attempting to fill the seats at the new stadium and I think this works against club success in the short term.

Our end of season list management decisions will be illuminating as to whether premierships are our most important criteria.

However, I suspect the LeCras decision is a sign that not bottoming out, keeping the majority of seats filled and the corporate bottom line is the immediate 5-8 year plan.

Lecras is still in top 5 to ten player at our club u bananas
If he doesn't get a few goals he's useless. Just like half our team opponents just run rings around them with the ball and in one on one contests

Top 5 or 10 at what?

Top 5 to ten 'valuable/best' footballers on our list.
JK
Shuey
NicN
Gov
Yeo
Darling
....
Lecras
Wellingham
Shep
Hurn

Could argue about the order of those guys above him listed above.. however he's better than the rest of the list bar those guys.
Ask yourself the question..
'who is better'?
Putting Lecras up against others on list, player by player.

Who's more valuable than Lecras not on that list? Umm Gaff, Redden, Sheed, Jetta, Vardy, Barrass, Duggan and this year Petrie and Mitchell contributed more than him. I also rate Partington, Cole and Nelson higher than him. Look he was a star but now he's stuck in the slow lane and everyone else is overtaking him. If he stays on he'll be backing up traffic.

This.

Why is Simpson talking about what he delivered this year? He was an absolute spud this year. Despite that, I would expect Simpson to make hard calls (like North and Geelong did) and consider what his output is going to be next season. He isn't going to improve. If anything, he will cop a few hard bumps early on in the season and carry another "Hip Injury" through the whole season, continually citing this "Hip Injury" as an excuse for shite form. The younger players were delivering more than him. WCE are likely to lose Lamb because of this spud.
