To this day I worry what might've been. I was so close to becoming a Bombers supporter. When I was five I started to take a real interest in football. At that time there were quite a few Bomber supporters in my grade incluing a relative of Jimmy Hird. Anyway me and my sister were deciding together what's the best team to barrack for and we both agreed that we'd barrack for Essendon because they seemed to be very popular. My mum told us we should barrack for Carlton. Like I always did back then I listened to her ;) . It's strange that she said we should follow Carlton as when she was a kid she supported the Pies but isn't really into football anyway. So I must thank my mother from rescuing me before it was to late. Thinking of me supporting them for about 5 minutes makes me wanna go take a cold shower.

So how did you become a supporter of the greatest football team of all time?

I support "The Blues" in the SANFL, so when I heard that there was a team (around about 1980) called the Blues in the VFL, the choice was simple. And even though the Crows were developed over here, my allegiance couldn't be swayed.

I was born into a Carlton family - even though we were brought up in the western suburbs and probably should've followed the dogs....anyway thankfully now a passionate Blues fan - navy blue blood running through these veins and I have passed the blue gene onto my kids. Another two blues for the future!!

Dad slapped a little carlton jump siute & beanie on to me when I was taken home from hospital.
His 2 brothers, (Uncles) Carlton members, my cousins - all barrak for Carlton.
A good, solid Carlton family. :)

ps - Almost all ex-girl friends were Collingwood or Essendon suporters ??? Wierd coincidence.

My wife (followed Ess) decided about 3 months ago that at age 31, she now wants to follow the Blue boys so our kids (none yet thank god) make an easy transition into the Carlton football fraternity.

I lived around the corner from moorabbin (off jasper road). My dad who hated football had to go to the football with his work to kiss his bosses ass (his boss barracked for essendon, so I don't know why we ended up at a Carlton - St Kilda game). Anyway carlton flogged them and I have been a fan ever since.

Started off as a Demon until about 5-6, then my sisters then boyfriend took me to carlton games with his dad and nephew underneath the old score board and got the peanut man to always hit us on the chest with the nut bag, never saw him miss his target and I have not looked back. Mum was shattered, but most I my mates from school are blue boys . I have see 79, 81,82,87 and 95 winning grand finals and a few loses 86,93 and 99, but I cannot complain, I still would not have seen a winning one if I stayed a demon.

I never had any choice. I was told from the age of four if I even considered choosing another team I would be out of the family. My family is very passionate. All of my family barracks for carlton so I can't imagine what it would have been like to have supported another team.

I wanted to follow Collingwood at age 7 because a few of the other kids in the neighbourhood did. My mum (St Kilda supporter) refused to buy me a Collingwood jumper. She said Collingwood had always been the "dirtiest" team in the competition and no son of hers would be allowed to wear a Magpie jumper. I could have any jumper I wanted as long as it wasn't Collingwood.

The year was 1970 and a little while later Teddy Hopkins sealed my fate (and that of my brothers) forever. I saw how upset the Collingwood supporters were after the GF and I liked it. I haven't stopped liking this feeling.

My Dad barracked for the blues and my Nanna

I used to sit behind the goals in those 4 seats that used to be near the old iron race where the players come out if anyone can remember how it was back in the old days at Princess Park

There used to be a blue box near the forward pocket where the coach and players sat watching reserves play have a brilliant pic of david parkin taken by polaroid from that position which he signed

anyway goe Blues 2005
