I was under the misunderstanding that it was something like ....

Finals round 1 (8 left)

[1] 1v4
[2] 2v3
[3] 5v8 (loser eliminated)
[4] 6v7 (loser eliminated)

Finals Round 2 (6 left)

W[1] bye
W[2] bye

[5] L[1] v W[3] (loser eliminated)
[6] L[2] v W[4] (loser eliminated)

Finals Round 3 (4 left)

[7] W[1] v W[5] (loser elimated)
[8] W[2] v W[6] (loser elimated)

Grand Final (2 left)

W[7] v W[8] (loser feels worse than all the previous losers)

How does it actually work then?

btw are we still on the MCG plan or is it higher placed team at end of round 22 gets the home final option (baring the GF of course).

Losers of the Qualifying Final switch sides of the finals draw to prevent repeat match-ups from Week 1 appearing in Week 3. So for the Preliminary Finals, W1 v W6, AND W2 v W5.

As for MCG finals, the AFL have to play 10 MCG finals in Weeks 1-3 over a 5 year period. This year is the 2nd of the current 5 year period and currently on pace with 2 MCG non-GF finals played last year. So non-Victorian clubs are safe at the moment in earning the right to host home finals in the first 3 weeks.

Boring :thumbsd: lol

i bet you are like those hot 20 year old girls out there who are constantly saying "entertain me, entertain me"

I know all about hot 20 year old girls constantly begging me to entertain them. We share that burden at least. Life's tough.

Richmond usually finish 9th and miss out.
Demons play finals depending on odd or even year.
Carlton add to there to draft picks
Pies usually exit first round and Mick keeps his job for another year
Adelaide make the prelims but get rooted by WC
Swans sneak up and make the GF against WC

Toss of the coin decides WC/Swans winner.

Thats usually how finals work lately.

Good summary :thumbsu:
