By looking at next year's draw, I started to think. How the hell do they pick the draw?? Do they pick teams out of a hat? Do they use their knowledge to decide who plays who?? Do they get useless statistics to help them out??

How do they do it?

I read that one of the people on the AFL board does it entirely himself on his personal computer.

The system is SUPPOSED to work this way:
Teams finishing in the previous fixture's top 8 play the other teams in the top 8 twice, and everyone in the bottom 8 once.

Teams finishing in the previous fixture's bottom 8 play the other teams in the bottom 8 twice and everyone in the top 8 once.

There's glaring exceptions to this though...Essendon almost always plays Carlton and Collingwood twice, because these matches are guaranteed money makers.

Does anyone know who Andrew Demetriou's really goes for!
And i think channel 7 has a little hand in how the draw works out as well! 7 are trying to push for the Collingwood V Essendon Game at night on Saturday, August 18 (Round 20, MCG).
Hey who did get the best draw?

Dockerbabe - the only problem with that is that to play and win finals you need to be able to play well at the 'G'. It is great for interstate teams to 'play well at Colonial', it shows the ability to win interstate. But the G is the place where you need to be able to win at the business end of the season. That is where the action is at the time that counts. Hey at least the Lions are getting 2 games there next season, better than last years 'one' and other years 'none'.
