Apropos to the discussions about the almost universal disappointment regarding this week's ins and outs (in particular, the lack of outs), I thought it might be worth having a look at the two squads and matching them up to see how we will go tonight carrying a few too many spanners in the toolbox.

B : Teague Martyn Makepeace
F : Bizzell White Hocking

HB : Motlop McCartney Archer
HF : Murphy Graham Kingsley

C : Blakey Grant Sinclair
C : Ling Kilpatrick Clarke

HF : King McKernan Rocca
F : Riccardi Scarlett Harley

F : Harvey Carey Pickett
B : Sanderson McGrath Sholl

R : Burton Simpson Rawlings
R : King Milburn Spriggs

IC : Cochrane Clayton McLaren Spaull
IC : Enright Hunt C.Mooney Rahilly

In some respects we are lucky David Mensch was dropped (yes I am serious). Regardless of his capabilities of a player, you still need to put a tall on him, and we do look a bit short in the backline. The extra tall to go to defence would almost certainly have been Carey.

I think Spaull is the man for Bizzell, but I am certain Spaull will start on the bench and sit there for three quarters while Teague or Archer will get first go at Bizzell.

Fortunately for us, Geelong's midfield and defence is not overly quick, so we should be able to match them for pace in the middle while perhaps exposing them in defence by pushing Pickett, King and Harvey into forward roles.

No matter where the two teams are on the ladder, Geelong always seem to have the unpredictability about them when playing us, as their side is similarly structured to ours, meaning player match-ups could go in many different ways, and are harder to figure out than against other teams.

Steven King looms as a danger player in the middle, so Burton needs to contain him like he did in the wet at that sh*thole in the Round 4 game. Peter Riccardi, if moved forward, might trouble us for pace, although the inclusion of King this week means we are better off for quick options than last week.

I'm pretty confident Martyn and McCartney will do good jobs on White and Graham, although our secondary defenders (Teague and Archer) may be exposed for height and pace by Bizzell and Kingsley. Unfortunately, few options exist there, with the absence of Colbert. Geelong may also try to stretch us further by starting Cameron Mooney on the ground instead of Spriggs, Hocking or Murphy.

Would like to see at least one mobile tall on the bench, although they are few and far between in the MKs, and Colbert is out of calculations for the season. Hopefully Sinclair, McLaren and Spaull get more game time than last week, as they did OK when they came on.
