I reckon he might do well. With Benny Leavin for Amercia If Ottens doesnt kick at least 30 goals Geelong could be in trouble.

However, He will be a focal point and get alot of ball.

I dont hate him, good player, wish he was still at Richmond but it wasnt to be.

Id much prefer Meyer, Pato and Simmonds over Ottens. However, you'd have to take Simmonds/Ottens over Simmonds/Knoble...

He'll be one of their better, if not their best player. Many goals expected, surrounded by quality players and a decent coach. He will finally have direction and purpose on the ground.

I'm with you Bentleigh, no use hating the bloke, he's gone now. Take the emotion out of it, who wouldn't leave our outfit to earn more money and have a greater chance of playing in a premiership in the near future?

Ottens would have stayed with Richmond if we had agreed to pay his price, in the end it was Richmond's decision to let him go. Loyalty has to be a 2-way street and since when are clubs loyal to the players? As soon as the players are no longer considered useful they are traded or delisted. Why should we expect loyalty from the players when another club is willing to pay substantially more money. If somebody offered you even $20,000 more than what you are currently earning to do the same job somewhere else, what would you do?

When Ottens left we secured 2 highly rated kids, with Zantuck we paid him a lot of money to go to Essendon and got nothing in return... If I was a bitter person I know who I would be more bitter about.

In hindsight, i am pleased that we traded Ottens.

He had been paid on potential for far too long, and was only interested in his bank account, not the Richmond jumper.
