They don't, if they are really lucky the LNP might lose though

Friend at work who knows nothing about politics was asking..., where are labors policies...
Now I know what's going on.
The greens have their own... but laybaaahhh,

Had to tell my mate that alp put forth policies in 2019 and liberals won the election mostly off a scare campaign.

So that's why they havent put forth their hand yet.

That will come at the right time though.

The greens in my view have plenty of wedges within and massive hypocrites even if they truly think they are showing their hand right now

They are really dishonest though massive hypocrites. Will wait for shy to offer thoughts and prayers when there's another Islamic terrorist attack though. Where are laybaahhs policies indeed.

she had three things in her favour though:

1) support from the Federal campaign (scomo was a regular)

2) MASSIVE external money coming in

3) the AEC was caught behind the 8 ball on both the dodgy wechat/weibo marketing, and the fake chinese AEC signs on election day

on these three for 2022:

1) scomo will be playing D in kooyong, higgins, and Goldy this election (as we have already seen from his recent trip). Chisholm will struggle to get the same media attention without the pm in photo ops

2) its believed much of the money can from mainland china. with the libs being the party of the war on china, good luck getting this money from the mainland again

3) the AEC IMO will not be embarrassed twice, and her social media and match day chinese language comms will be rigorously monitored

K, remember 20% of Chisholm is of chinese ancestry, Duttons war on China is going to hurt her (most of the 20% are recent migrants, and have strong financial links in both countries - they are not CCP refugees as some think they are)

Numbers 1, 2 and 3 will happen again. The AEC did nothing about the fake AEC-looking signs. When have the LNP not been hypocrites in accepting money/support from corrupt people? I think ScoMo will be out and about throughout the blue-chip and bible belt seats the Coalition hold, plus the Peninsula.

DUtton's idiocy when it comes to China is what's going to cost them. He was borderline racist the other day complaining that Australians don't care enough about Chinese rape. Plus all the military posturing coupled with drummed-up China scares.

1 can't happen because time is limited. He will spend little time in Victoria for obvious reasons, and when he is it will be protecting the blue ribbon seats, not marginals.

2 can't happen because China hates Australia. Why would companies that owe their success to the PRC donate to the mob pushing for war? Also look who donates, it's mainly the property developers, and they are having issues right now

And 3 is happening. Last I heard we will be seeing new rules around corflutes (yet to see them though)

Property developers having issues? Property developers donate to state pollies, and they're all making out like bandits at the moment. There might be new rules, but doesn't mean they won't be broken again and the AEC will just assume nobody would dare break a regulation.

It's not money directly from the Chinese Govt, it's from arms-length individuals with interests in Australia. They still have those interests. For all the talk of the LNP, they've not actually done anything. If anything, the nuclear subs deal makes Australia less aggressive in the Pacific, because they're essentially make-believe submarines.

Firb is federal. Every time they buy a block to develop it has to go for firb approval. Every company they buy, firb.

Evergrande and Country whatever it is, is just the tip of the iceberg. Developers are in trouble in China, and their access to debt and equity is drying up. No new cash, no new buildings.

And they may be arms length, but they are not. They need govt approval for loans, permits, and of course govt contracts. If they bite the hand, they perish.

And speak to people in mainland China, we are not liked at all right now. The common perception is we are pushing for war to make America happy.

You're right, it probably makes sense that the Chinese Govt would make donations to the LNP off-limits, but there will still be plenty in the diaspora who don't want the ALP raising taxes etc. There will still be Chinese money already here ready to work for the LNP.

Influence relates to policy, not simply one side of politics.

Yes, but the question at present is will the Chinese residents of Chisholm (~20% of the electorate) be behind the LNP with cash and support as much as they were last year.

They might not have the cash, but they'll have the bot-farms in full-swing during the campaign.

Why wouldnt the ALP reply in kind - its not as if either side will allow the other mob a free kick.

What for? Its a transactional relationship.

And the rumours were it wasn't locals donating to her (which is why so many red flags went up at the time)

as a swinging voter, i am so put off by Labor continual negative talking points they are pushing me to vote liberal
