OP was adamant we were tanking or very shit two years ago. Should we just bump that thread up again?
nuh, no trolling on here, fully in on the Hawks winning the flag.

Defence is settled with Barass and Battle, some decent kids on either side of them. The wings are elite, D'Ambrosia was around the edges of AA last year. The forward group sees Calsher Dear as a second year fwd kick 25 goals be unable to make the best 23. Those small fwds are a handful and bat deeper than anyone. The midfield is humming with so many kids stepping up.

I am a believer

I mean, how is it that Hawthorn were considered a bottom 8 team some weeks by you, to premiership favorite now?

You also said this two games ago:

As has been pointed out, a mid table side bashed up a young and inexperienced bottom 4 side.

Mate, McKenzie, Josh Ward, McDonald are all stepping up.

Forgot, Josh Weddle is the ace in the pack, he could be anything

Is that the same Josh Weddle you'd take Nic Martin over him?

Just got across the line vs Geelong minus Dangerfield
Beat Sydney minus Heeney/Gulden
Beat the Bulldogs minus Liberatore and English

At this stage it seems the Hawks will be battling the bulldogs, suns, swans, lions, crows, freo, cats for a top 6 spot. I cant see the Hawks finishing ahead of the 2 QLD teams, Sydney and Freo so they are taking the long way through the finals series, if they even make it of course.

I have them above Sydney and many think Sydney are top four material. Hawthorn's system is going to get over the line in a couple of finals alone.
Still lacking midfield talent but if Will Day can return in reasonable shape and at the very least, ensure the opposition show him respect, it allows Newcombe some freedom from a designated tag and that is a considerable boost.

Watson is the guy who can flip their entire fortunes around. Never thought I would say that about a small but he's a finals match-winner.

People are jumping the gun on several sides. You've listed all of the ones that are in the mix for top 4. It's quite an even group, so saying 4 spots are locked up is silly.

Agree. I think the potential issue will be having to travel for a prelim.

I give us a chance against every other team in the comp at the MCG.

Would be tough heading to either QLD ground or Optus deep into the finals though.

Essendon are primed and ready to win the premiership from 10th!! (And the world will end soon after)

Yeah I agree. Of course you need luck with injuries and form, but I think they are very well coached and have a lot of match winners. Quite enjoy watching them, as a neutral fan.

Can see why they went after merett. Add a class midfielder and their premiership window now, and for a few more years.
