They can go as far as the GF where they will become another helpless Lions victim.:trophy::trophy: :trophy:

We seem to match up well against Brisbane for some reason. We've got a winning record over the last five games and one of our losses was a close one.

Mid field still a problem. No guarantee Day will be more than an injury prone week to week proposition. If we lose Newcombe to injury/suspension we are stuffed. At least Mitchell is using the 2 rucks to win hit outs to advantage (as evident last night) in an attempt to assist midfielders.

All good banter fodder this thread. I agree, FWIW on very early season form and my vibe I think the Hawks and Swans are the Lions biggest barriers to a 3Peat.

I mean, how is it that Hawthorn were considered a bottom 8 team some weeks by you, to premiership favorite now?

You also said this two games ago:
yep got it wrong, having seen them flush away the table topping Dogs, im all aboard the Hawks train.

A very desperate attempt to moz the Hawks, by a very desperate poster.
no desperation here abasi, the light is shining through like an angel coming from the clouds.

Sam Mitchell even from a shit hole like Dingley has them humming with the sum of all parts absolutely ticking along nicely

if Newcomb doesnt get you, someone else will in the middle, if Gunston is stopped, Mitch Lewis will get you, Dylan Moore is stopped, Nic Watson will stand up.

Your posting history in every Hawthorn related thread tells a tale.

This is just more sad desperation.

im a changed man (you should try it), as I said, seeing how they took apart the Dogs yesterday has made me realise that everyone is catching the Hawks (and Lions)

I’ll take Yoda_ at face value here and respond as such.

We’ve had, opening round aside a very good start, beating a few potential top 4-6 prospects. However, whilst our draw gets a touch better, it’s still a fairly rough fixture with another game vs the dogs, 2 vs GCS, Brisbane, Fremantle as well. So we’ll need to be at our best for a significant portion of the rest of the season.

On top of that is injuries/ suspensions. We can cop either in the Back Line, Forward Line and Rucks. What we’re yet to really prove is can we cop it in the midfield. Day is still 6ish weeks away, and who knows how quickly he’ll get back into the groove.

You need a lot of luck to just make a GF, let alone win one. I see us as a 2-6 team currently, but there’s a long season ahead. Can we go all the way? Yes. Will we, hard to say.

Kind of glad we missed out on Merrett. Win win for both clubs. We're just on the cusp of a sixpeat according to Yoda, whilst rebuilding on the run with multiple first round picks, and Zachary continues to write his legend for the Bombers nabbing them a famous victory and one of the goals of his career.

The perfect ending to the Merrett saga.

I can see them winning the flag in 2026. Lets get past one first mate, a season is a long time in footy

Thats quite sensible Yoda.

Maybe best to wait until we get through the full home and away season before declaring us Premiers though.

You keep changing your position by month, by week, by post...

A month ago you had Hawthorn as a bottom team, then according to you they moved to a middle team two games ago... Then you started a thread yesterday saying "it's Hawthorn's flag to lose" and now less than 24 hours later in the same thread "can see them winning a flag".

No shit Sherlock. Hawthorn can win the flag, in fact they were a possibility also in 2024 (when you posted often in the tanking thread), and last year in 2025.

You're really not providing any valuable insight or football analysis here.

I have them above Sydney and many think Sydney are top four material. Hawthorn's system is going to get over the line in a couple of finals alone.
Still lacking midfield talent but if Will Day can return in reasonable shape and at the very least, ensure the opposition show him respect, it allows Newcombe some freedom from a designated tag and that is a considerable boost.

Watson is the guy who can flip their entire fortunes around. Never thought I would say that about a small but he's a finals match-winner.
Yep it seems he has decided to play football rather than chase free kicks at every contact.Props to both him and Ginnivan

Only two free kicks for Watson this season.
