The Hawks are 6-1-2, are the only team to beat Sydney and lost an away game by 15pts against a fellow early contender. They're doing fine.

I need to point out that Sydney were missing both Heeney and Gulden in that game, not saying it was not a good win for Hawthorn, but we were very much missing two important players.

We've been missing Day all year.

Just gotta beat who ever is in front of you.

Top 2 is going to be so important this season. No one wants an away trip to Perth, Brisbane or Sydney.

That's fine. You haven't had Gulden all year and Heeney has missed at least one other game. No one else has got ciose to you.

Again this based on 1 game. Watson only kicked 2 last week and Gunston was kept goalless yet we still kicked a big enough score to win. The problem last night is our other prime movers forward of the ball had poor games when they normally contribute on the scoreboard. There's no way on Earth Mitchell thinks it's Gunston, Watson or bust and we have proven that not to be the case when we play well and win
The bigger concern since they've become a good team (2024 to now) is how regularly they concede those 4 or 5 goal runs in quick succession. Only a handful of teams can really put the burners on to do that sort of damage, but they tend to do it against Hawthorn fairly regularly.

Correct, Mitchell even highlighted it in the presser, sounds like he's had enough and he made a point to single out individual players not following instructions as to why it keeps happening and what will hold us back from getting to where we want to get to. Very good when we are on, very poor when we are not and this is within almost every game. Even Essendon had 2 periods of kicking a few in a row. It's a lack of concentration for the full 120 minutes but why it keeps happening is what we need to sort out.

Im not willing to give up on the hawks although it is concerning how much relied upon the top few. No Barrass, no Gunston, no Hawthorn,

Maybe they dont trade for Merrett knowing they aren't as close as they thought. thats ok. They have plenty of untapped kids in the VFL to call upon to develop for the next charge.

They're a good team and right in the top 4 race but like early last year people got carried away with them. Just one of a handful of teams that should feature in September but have question marks, flaws and a couple of players they can't really survive without. Brisbane have the depth and talent to ride such challenges out which is why they can go on these great finals runs. Hawthorn are like the others where most things have to go off without a hitch. Maybe all things.

Just a blip on the radar today. Hawks very much still in the box seat for the flag.

They didn’t have their two most important and promising players in barrass and Gunston.

Blatant trolling .
Sitting 6th with Brisbane and Adelaide lurking behind them is not the "box seat".

Well we didn't improve our list in the offseason if anything we lost depth.

We tried to address the midfield issue but were unable to.

Other teams like Gold Coast & Sydney improved their lists so i thought just holding ground on last year would be hard.

Don't forget we made the prelim from 8th.

We aren't getting far unless we fix our system.

We seem to thrive in the chaos but teams are figuring us out. Our bad patches and quarters always look the same, and it wasn't even patches for the dees they just did it for 4 quarters and we had no answers.

Press in on the ball carrier don't allow any over lap handball or kick and clog up the corridor.
You'll even see multiple player press in on the carrier just to prevent this fast chaos play before it starts.

We then will default to retreating back and into a switch, we always follow the same patterns and it doesn't seem to work anymore as oppo teams now know where to slide across to prevent out next outlet kick as well our own players do.

A really inspiring win against a team tipped to compete with them at the pointy end of the season.

Weddle justifying his $800,000, Watson defying the HIA to assert himself in the last quarter, and tough small defender kicking 4 goals as a like-for-like replacement for Jack Gunston

All is right in the world again after a tough few weeks for the Mighty Fighting Hawks

Bye can't come soon enough. Team is running off fumes at the moment. Need to slog it out for a few more weeks.

As far as the umps are willing to armchair them.

And if the western bulldogs of 2016 are any guide then that’s potentially all the way
Man... I'd hate to be the poor sods to face them in the Grand Final, get ****ed by the umps and need to get therapy for ten years. 😂

...checks ladder...

F****k!

Par from here (with their fixture list) is to finish top 4 in H&A, win a final and be very competitive in another.

The standard of the top 6 teams really isn't that high outside of Brisbane engaging knockout finals mode - so there's no reason to aim low for any of them.

Par from here is a flag, overcoming premiership fancies St Kilda the way they did shows they need to be seriously considered flag favorited.

Led by the youth, its hard to not see them finishing in the final four at least
