Just finished watching Sydney's demolition of the Kangaroos. How aweosme do they look? The 4th best defnce of last year is only getting better, multiple goal kicking options, and a truckload of experience. Although, yo be fair, the Kangaroos looked woeful.

I tipped Sydney to finish 2nd at the end of the home and away and nothing I have seen so far has made me alter that. If anything, I see no reason why they can't be considered a genuine premiership chance and why not top spot too? I see no legitimate reasoj why the Swans can't win more games than Essendon.

Essendon will have their work cut out for them this week. I don't know how we are going to combat them up there. There are going to be near impossible to beat at the SCG all year, and just think...... Paul Kelly is still to return.

It begs the question, why is next Fridays Ess-Syd bockbuster being shown on delayed telecast in melbourne, while Collingwoood-Richmond is being shown at 8:30 (which is live for all intents and purposes. People watch it as if it were live, even though it officailly starts at 7:40). Essendon and Sydney fans can't watch their match live because we can't go to Sydney, but Pie and Tigers fans can easily make their way to the MCG. There is also the added fact that Sydney-Essendon is the match of the season so far. We have the top team on the ladder (Sydney) agaisnt last years premiers, who will be either 2nd or 3rd. Collingwood and Richmond is a blockbuster, but neither are premiership chances, and their fans can easily go to watch the game. Essendon and Sydney fans can't.

Well Dan, they look good so far but to be fair they've beaten two teams tipped by many experts to be bottom two on the ladder and another team who is going through a rough trot at the moment and has been flogged 3 times already this season. Not great opposition but they can only beat the teams that are put out on the park. The real test comes next week and in the ensuing matches against better credentialled opponents away from the SCG. Good luck to them anyway.

One word: Scary

I know the Kangas are down at the moment, but it was still way too easy for them. They were kicking goals at will.

They are gonna belt some teams up there this year. Possibly us if we show the effort we did Thursday night.

Guys, please don't do that. You're trying to use some reverse psychology crap on me aren't you?

I know that Sydney can fall over at any time!!! I saw it all too often last year unfortunately..

Having said that, I think tonight was a real improvement on the first 2 rounds - North could have really made it interesting in the first 3 quarters, but we were able to stick with them and blow them away in the 4th.

I think we'll have a better understanding of where we are at after next week's game - bring on the bombers... Swans v Bombers is always a ripper in sydney.

Along with West Coast, Brisbane and Port they cannot win a finals match where it matters, in September on the wide open expanses of the MCG. So it is all academic really.

When it really matters sides like Essendon, Melbourne and Carlton will blow them away.

West Coast have won 8 finals matches in Victoria. Get your facts straight. And besides, what happened in the past is not guaranteed to happen again in the future.
If Sydney are good enough, they can do it.

No, Dan, he's right, we never win finals. We only won 2 Grand Final's, and got ourselves into another

Sydney are looking pretty good at the moment and in my mind appear to be certain finalists.

However, I agree with Ant. At this stage they have only beaten two sides expected to finish near the bottom of the ladder and another going through a rough patch.

If they win next week, they are beginning to look like the real deal.

How many since 94, look at the numbers; interstate clubs playing finals in Melbourne have a very poor record. That is fact. Yes they can win at home, but history shows that when they have to travel they have a significantly less chance of winning. That is fact and it is a straight and correct fact.

Choppy,

Yes thats true, but it's also a fact that the Eagles have won 8 finals in Melbourne. If a team is good enough, they can do it. If the Swans are good enough, the Grand Final might be the only "away" final they are required to play. Have you considered that?

Excuse me choppy, but the Adelaide Crows are an interstate side who have a very good record in Melbourne, in finals. If Sydney are good enough they will win in Melbourne come finals time. Of course, if they're not as good as the Crows were in 97,98 then they will not. Time will tell.
