Come on all you people who were in here 5 mins after the game finished last week, where are you now, looking pretty pathetic, what you can dish it out & not take it. HA HA HA

Some people don't always come home right after the game. That is why we were not here instantly. And the swans are more overrated than I thought. If they can't beat a side with so many players out from the opposition, with the home ground advantage, then I guess the Swans are not great opposition and Essendon have done nothing to suggest that they did anything great.

Play on says the umpire

Essendon played very well and it was a great win, especially the margin. But a second side? Having five or six blokes out does not make it a second side. Undermanned, yes. Second side, I think not.

What "play on" raised is interesting though... are the Swans over-rated? It pisses me off in a major way that the team that belted us last week, can play different opposition last night, and be completely inept. The skill level was disgraceful, even for those conditions.

Essendon supporters would have to be pleased about how the young fellows went, especially Peverill who got 20 touches and kept Schwass quiet.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know who Robert Walls regarded as the most over-rated player at Sydney? Has to be Adam Goodes, doesn't it?

No Darky i reckon Goodes is the goods. If he had kicked straight (and i know, bad kicking = bad football) he would have bagged at least six.

Still very disappointing from Sydney tonight.

One thing though, any Bomber fan that criticizes the Hawks and boring footy by flooding the defence. Well have a look at tonights Dons with 17 blokes in the Swans half of the ground.

If it works and you win with it, why then cant the rest of the league do it as well?

Damn you Dutch conning me like that (lol)

Btw who did you pick out of the other game, at least i evened up with (ugh) getting the Tiggers right tonight!

Cheers.

Here come all the Essendon bandwagon supporters crawling out from their cots with their dummies taken out of their mouths. Where were you all last week when you lost ??

At least Collingwood supporters are loyal and stick by their team win lose or draw.

Grendel, how about D.19's criticism of the dons for being "soft"? Or is he easty's twin?

P.S. I don't have a problem with flooding, and don't think the hawks are boring. Bloody annoying, but never boring!

Though you'll forgive me for hoping you get rolled.

Great win ! I am so rapt with that. The players showed great commitment. They really wanted to win, to get us back up there on top of the ladder - our rightful place. Peverill loked great in his first game. Fletcher was a one a wall at full-back. One of the best recent wins we've had, and that includes last years wins. It was the longest odds we've started a game since 1999.

Well, with five of Essendon's best ten out there is no way Sydney should have let them lose that. Essendon must have fluked it. Right Dan?

But seriously. That was a pretty impressive win by Essendon. After about the first ten minutes there was no way Sydney were going to win. The margin mightn't have been as great as it was had Sydney bothered to kick straight, but the winner was never in doubt. Hird and Fletcher, exceptional.

I don't mind flooding. I don't think I've ever mentioned it before, but my view is that if it is a legitimate tactic, and it is, there's no point arguing about it. I don't know if Sydney invented the tactic, but they certainly popularised it. And plenty of teams use it, so to attribute it to Hawthorn alone smacks of personal dislike of the team, IMHO. For a team not to use it when and if it is useful would be madness. The onus is on other teams to overcome it.

The overuse of handball was derided as boring. The zone defence was called boring. Overpossession as the ball comes to the forward line always incites cries of "Get rid of the bloody thing!" I think that better tackling and tagging have reduced the game as a spectacle, but you can't seriously expect players to tackle worse, or not to tag.

The game evolves. All this negative stuff just gets absorbed into the sport as a whole, and none of it makes footy less interesting. Just harder for the teams who don't keep up with the times.

I seriously dont know how Essendon played so well on Friday night. I watched a bit of the game and they ran all over Sydney and they did it easily. It really suprised me because they had no real standout players but their middle range players were playing like superstars. They just all seemed to click together as a team.

Yeah Boppa, i hope it clicks like that a whole lot more! I knew that we were not going to lose the game after qtr time...and in the last term we took the foot off the pedal. We basically won the game in the middle two quarters. I must admit though, it does frustrate me when we take the foot off the accelerator. I just hope the boys get out of first gear a whole lot more often. The boys did the supporters proud after all the flack we copped last weekend!

And by the way, we were "all" around last week to accept the barrage from opposition supporters, and now you dare say that we have all come out of the woodwork! Well i'm sorry sir, but you have a very selective memory!

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.
