How Good could Clarke Be?

OK OK. We would all love him to be a great Collingwood/AFL player and what a fantastic story it would be if he could be another Irish great to play the game. All this talk about Judd and the others you compare him to is most likely putting the kid under pressure. I haven't seen the kid play myself and im sure a lot of people havent so we should all keep a lid on it, one week at a time and all the other footy cliche's, let us all just wait and see.

LOL. :D ROFLMAO.

First player to win the rising star, brownlow, coleman and norm smith medals in his debut season.:D

He'll be the first player to win the Brownlow from one game, they'll say "Damn this kid is just ace and well who gives a damn about Judd, or Ablett!":thumbsu:

Rising Star - for sure!

Brownlow - would have to be best on ground in the remaining games - possible! - what are his odds?

Coleman - I don't think so

Norm Smith - Likely if we make the final

2007 Premiership Player - I hope so

------------------------------------------------------------------

Who will get the job to tag him tonight?

I'm with you Reidy.

I reckon he'll take big Bazza though and run off him all night.

Given the pumping up he is getting from Pies supporters he may as well take their best player.

If you think Martin Clarke is good wait until the other "steals" in Scott Reed, Thomas Young and that other NSW dude play in the AFL! If Marty Clarke is baby jesus then these are the 3 wise men.
LOL total respect for "that other dude"!! :D

Nick Perry.

Next year at least, we should be able to see Perry and Thomas play in the U16 Rams side. They're already playing U18 or senior football in the Sydney AFL competition at age 14.

How do you mean, a bastard of a player?

I would have thought him being a bastard to play against would be a good thing, if he lines up for the Pies.

Like I mean he was like a dirty player like flinging the elbows back in tackles and when his team was losing he'd fake injuries. If he wants to play for us than he better sharpen up. Personally I don't like this scholarship thing cause the players I know who have them are complete show ponies who think they can do what ever they want cause there better than everyone else.

And they're thinking right. All us superiors can do what we want because, quite simply, we are better than you. ;) joking

We'll that's prob a stereotype saying all of them are show ponies. If I had good skills I would be proud about but not cocky but modest. Who knows maybe these kids are the real future for us or they could of been a waste of time but the fact is the matter is there at a good club which should sort out who's up to it and who's not. By the way the text in the bold i believe was unnecessary if it was a joke that's fine but if it was a personal insult than I don't respect that.

I am generally fairly reserved in my assessments and I like keep a bit of a lid on it, so I'll keep it fairly short.

Personally I liken his style to being a cross between Daniel Kerr and Nick Dal Santo, only he's infinitely superior to both players in every respect.

The post that started it all!

i'll wait and see how he continues ...all this cockyness only brings bad omens . * just look how this works for the ever delusional poms at cricket lol

* it's a bit sad though , as players who got raised up in AFL football - training ...familiarisation.... years of practice , that an Irishman who's alot younger than the majority of players ,and has only had what ? 12 mth's practice with an oval ball and everything else that comes from our game & an oval ball - to be possibly heading to being one of the 'best' up & coming players .

maybe our AFL Game skill teachings are wrong or something ?

certainly no disrespect to the young man , great , and very good on him he's only doing his best , it's more a sad reflection on us if anything !

i take him as he comes, this premature big head boasting is almost asking for something to go wrong .

he's doin' bloody well so far .......don't pressurize him & jinx him for god sake !!!

No wonder we cop so much crap from everyone!
Chris Judd or better? CHRIS JUDD OR BETTER???? Are you retarted or what?
He hasn't even played the game yet, Jesus F Christ! Even if he is gonna be a great player, you're comparing him to Chris F**ing Judd!!!
This is why everyone loves giving us ****. We think our whole list is superior to everyone elses...

I LOL'd bigtime......a Collingwood supporter that has a dose of reality:thumbsu:

Great kid and could be anything. Funny thing is he has been kicking the oval ball for 1 year but slotted those goals straight thru and put Cloke, Roughead and a few others to shame! But comparisons to Judd, Gimme a break:D!

You need to understand the context of these posts.

This was posted before we've ever really seen Clarke. The praise and the rating of Clarke's ability has snowballed.

I actually just saw that! What a massive call to make in 2006:eek:
Seriously though, he is ver good for a 2nd gamer, but he aint in Judds stratosphere just yet!

He will win the rising star quite easily.
The people in Ireland call him one of the greatest ever and say he could of played soccer, Manchester United were apparently chasing him down but he stuck to the Gaelic game he grew up with.

It is far to late for clarke to win the NAB rising star. remember marc murphy last year, he had the best debut season on paper ever but only played 12 games and didn't win.
