Seems pretty straight forward doesn't it?
The obvious question to ask is - why when the tri-panel was our home jumper did we choose to to wear royal blue in 2005/06?

Because it's our true spiritual home jumper!

The club asked for an opinion and it was overwhelmingly in favour of the wings!

I understand it would be a bridge to far to get the old logo - but FFS our colours are royal blue and gold and we are eagles. Eagles have bloody wings, not tri-panels

The original reason for navy blue and white was marketing.

A study found we could sell much more leisure apparel in navy & white than in royal/yellow...

And hey, when we run out on the ground it's all about 55 year old guys with man boobs in shitty polo shirts ;)

Would love to know the $$ we make out of polo shirts ..

Most of the rest of the apparel it wouldn't matter!

Football is about passion and tribalism

Pies are passionate about their stripes, tigers about their yellow and black

Most eagles fans live their blue and gold

There is a reason we are called a franchise...

It looked okay. I believe it's the first time they wore the wings with blue shorts since the semi final against Collingwood in 2012. Still the Eagle's head and the size of the wings look crap.

The pre-2012 version which we won the 2006 flag with is much better looking

We really should just use this for both home and away. There's no reason to have separate jumpers. And then for clash can be the yellow peril. As far as I can tell the Bulldogs would be the only team we clash with. Our current home jumper clashes with like half a dozen teams, it's ******* stupid.

I'd love if we brought back the original head, the current head was never designed to fit into the wings design.

Do what Brisbane are doing and bring back the original head for the jumpers and leave the current head for merchandise/corporate stuff.

The difference between Brisbane and WC is they have a member voted board...

Something we unfortunately don't

Our club is ultimately there to serve the WAFC, not the membership

The AFL want to get the licenses to ultimately give the club back to itself.

Rock and a hard place , however at least when the WAFC screw us the money goes to WA footy

I assume you're talking about the 05/06 grand finals, in which case we wore the wings jumpers because the games were in Melbourne, so they counted as away games. Freo also wore their (awful) away jumper in last year's grand final despite the purple one being their spiritual jumper.

Couldn't of looked any better if they tried today. I thought the club was going somewhere last year when they were doing surveys and everything.
yeah they said they recognised the love for the wings, but there was some sort of AFL contractual merch obligation which meant they couldn't bring back the wings proper for some period of time (a couple of years i think).

so hopefully soon...

All they have to do is notify the AFL a year in advance (**** knows why) and they've already missed the 2015 deadline. But I don't think the rule is as strict as they make it out to be, iirc Port decided to change their jumpers after the season finished. El_Scorcho

Yeah, we managed to do it very late on.

We had the original version of the current home as a one off "planet teal" guernsey, designed by a 7 year old Port supporter, a competition we'd run 2 years before that as well. It was so popular that we wore it two more times that season, the last two games of the season, and the groundswell of support was there for it to be permanent. We wore the current design round 1 the next season and have since.

This is the one topic on the board that virtually every single one of us agree on (if you don't, you're an absolute ****). Goddamn, I'd love us to have this jumper all of the time along with the yellow peril.

Looked fantastic with the sun bouncing off it, why we are still going with that stupid tri panel strip for our home jumper I'll never know

Royal home and away, peril clash. Old eagle head on the jumpers, current eagle head for a corporate image. The club can keep navy for merchandize and all that other crap no one cares about.
