It's like most things - in moderation and under control it's awesome.I have gambled nearly every weekend for the last 5-6 years. Footy, horses and pokies only really. Never lost too much it hurt me. Had some good wins in that time. Single male with my own house and never find the cost of living too hard.
It has kinda become a bit of an expensive hobby in recent years. I do enjoy it though.
You're an outlier for sure, but I'm glad you enjoy it and it doesn't have a negative effect on your lifestyleI have gambled nearly every weekend for the last 5-6 years. Gambling has been normal for thousands of years.
Some people act like it wasn't a well known and accessible thing when they were growing up.
In Victoria you basically could only bet at the TAB or via your phone (which you could only deposit into at the TAB using cash). It wasn't accessinke apart from the TAB.
I rememner Punter to Punter on 3XY, with such luminaries as Slim Whittle, Tammy Whittle, Vince and Con Marasco,Trevor Marmalade, Dr Turf, Yonny Stone and Young Graeme doing there own version of Robert Palmer's, Addicted to Love but re-doimg the title and lyrics to, Addicted to the Punt.
A true Aussie classic.
My takeaway from this is that systems, excel documents and knowing the odds create barriers to owning luxury vehicles and memberships at the country club. The solution here clearly is invest more income in betting slips without the distraction of information or understanding probability. Simple.I’ve met some TOPS punters in my time. Really put the effort in, kept spreadsheets, knew all the odds and had a system. They were so good it surprised me they didn’t drive sports cars and spend their weekends at their country estate shooting deer and grouse.
