Faced with two huge negatives in the last week, how well has Swann handled himself and the club.
He is the best, bar none, CEO in Austraian sport. There is no mucking around or dishonesty, he is to the point and always timely and appropriate.

I am bloody proud to have a guy such as this representing my football club. The way in which he has carried himself in the last week is a credit to his character. What a great example for the rest of the club.

Agree, but the whole off field is now stable and key posts filled with high calibre people.

What is most disappointing and illustrates how badly managed the club was is that FEV had not been assisted with his ''addiction'' to the booze.

I would reasonably expect that we have seen the last of Fev's truly bad behaviour. We'll still get the 'little boy' stupidity but that is more embarrasing than anything more serious.

Go Blues

spot on, from the top down our club failed to move with the times and was stuck in the dark ages for far too long.

it looks like we have realised this and are starting to catch up

I was particularly impressed with how we handled the Libba issure. I was expecting the newspaper headlines the next day to be "carlton = cheats", instead thanks to Swann and their quick action they were "Blues hit back". Instead of us being portrayed as cheats, everybody was reporting how we were denying it so adamantly. We got out, made a definitive statement very quickly, and as a result it got us on the front foot

why do you think pratt nabbed him from the pies?
like pratt said...you dont get the best available cos if they were available then theyre not the best.

Can you imagine Malouf trying to handle the events of the last week? Would have been quite an interesting, if embarrasing, sight.

Hine is the one you should have pinched if you wanted on field success

Hughesy is a more experienced, more thorough recruiter than Hine :thumbsu:. We also now have shane Rogers who has a great eye for talent and was chased by a number of other clubs for an RM role. Aside from Pendlebury and Thomas, Hine's record with later picks is nothing to write home about. He has also been made to look good by your development academy and Marty Clarke who Hine probably had little to do with recruiting. Thanks for your offer, but we are quite ok in that department.:)

Neither of those two things translate to better though.. he's been a freak for us

I'm not going to get into a pi$$ing contest with you about who has the better recruiters, let's just say aside from Pendlebury, Hine's CV doesn't look quite as impressive. Don't get me wrong, I think he is a good recruiter, but given his failures with a lot of later picks I think freak is bit of a stretch. We will keep Hughes and Rogers thanks :):thumbsu:

Later picks like Goldsack?

Nobody strikes 100%.. but when he hits, it's gold

Stephen Wells from Geelong is one of the best recruiters going around and a nice guy to boot. Buckenara and Pelchen have done a good job with Hawthorn's list.

Goldsack goes alright and his development was probably fast tracked by your academy, let's see how he goes the next couple of years, I suspect he will only ever be a good honest player. Dick will be a handy player in time. Stanley, Cook, Egan, Nichols haven't set the world on fire.

Don't get me wrong, I think Hine is good, but I don't see that he is any better a recruiter than Hughesy.

You got Mccarthy this year who I was quite a fan of. don't get me wrong, i'm not bagging Hine, I'm disputing what i think is a bit of a myth that he is some guru recruiter and would do a better job that somebody like WH.

Rogers is the man that will take over recruiting department by 2009 and is a really smart operator who is having a major impact in the last twelve months, we need a change in the recruiting area with a number of the players drafted over the past four years not coming up.

He is a muchbetter option than Hine who is a johnny come lately, rogers I am led to believe was at the Club in 95 and has been at a couple of Clubs that have all had success.
