How good was coach Paul Hamilton in the SANFL.

A question for all the SANFL supporters how good was the Hammer over there?

I realy like the work he is doing with the Murray Kangaroos, He is an excellent speaker he talks with little pressure and avoids the rant and rave. His breakdown to each player at the breaks is spot on not negative and the players respond to this alot better than yelling and carrying on. He coached the Eagles last season I think so he must have played against all your clubs so you SA footy lovers must have an opinion of him. Your usually a informative bunch.

Paul Hamilton coached the Woodville-West Torrens Eagles to the 2000 SANFL Grand Final but lost to the team that I support, Central District Bulldogs. So he was still a pretty damn good coach.

Where are the Murray Kangaroos on the local ladder anyway?

I think we have slipped to 4th now. Thanks Raboyle. I think he will get a top job one day at least the assistant's job he has done great with our seconds and the players like him as far as I know abd that is half the battle you can be a great coach but a ordinary bloke he doesnot seem like this at all. Just look at litte Timmy beter off reading the news I think.

Hammo took a young eagles side to the clear minor premiership 3 games clear of the rest, but let the EAGLES down when it mattered most on GF day.

He signed with a 2 year contract and the EAGLES relocated him to adelaide from double header land. He was being approached by AFL clubs during the second half of the season (despite public denials) This was especially the case when the eagles had the bye in the 2nd last round and then had the first week of the finals off.

He was outcoached on GF day - made selection errors (playing unfit players).

No-one can blame someone for taking a promotion - lets face it his salary would be around 1.5 - 2 times what he was getting with the eagles (if the kanga's can afford to pay salaries at the moment) but what the EAGLES were most dissapointed with was that after GF day he gave a further committment to the EAGLES GM & directors that he would fulfill the second year of his contract (amid media speculation that linked him with essendon, kangaroos & other clubs). The he went on holidays to the olympics - came back and then SHAFTED us big time. Said I'm off - oh he stayed for a month to do player reviews - not sure why the new coach was going to have their own views.

He did not want an "assistant" role at AFL level - he wanted to be in charge of a side calling the shots as well - eg murray kangaroos.

SANFL clubs are now looking to appoint coaches with no real AFL aspirations because of the poaching. The EAGLES have appointed an EAGLE club man RON FULLER who took our u/17's to three consecutive flags - similiar to pagan @ kangas.

At least hammo did not shaft us further by drafting a stack of our players. -

SUMMARY - not a bad coach but Not a man of his word!!!
He was saying during the finals that he had no approaches - what a load of crap!!!! These proved to be a great distraction to his efforts on GF day.

You can thank the eagles for him adding that to thanking us for your 96 flag courtesy of EAGLES 93 premiership player glenn freeborn.

Because you guys could not afford to compensate us for finding a replacement I'll add the following - 98 AFL GF was a great match after half time - Sensational being there. Carey - a big game player - for sure!!!!!.

the other spot you'd find feedback on hammo- is the EAGLES website - guestbook - you'll have to go back a few screens to see the comments around finals time and during last season

there was a location known as hammo's hotspot which all the players knew about and it was basically 15-20 metres out dead in front. Look out to anyone who did not kick to this spot from a worse position.

maybe the coach of the club that finished your flukey finals campaign last year - judging on current playing list & coaching staff probably sturts last finals campaign for many more years to come
