South Freo,
I haven't seen many of his games this year and was wondering how he's doing?

The word around BigFooty is that he has been a dissapointment with his stats seeming to confirm this. Is this view warranted?

Also, is Marc Murphy's shoulder holding up okay this year?

Thanks

Murph's shoulder is fine. there has not been any news of complaints etc from the surgery. Probably if anything stronger as he has muscle compared to his slightly skinny frame last year

Well Gibbs, considering the way he has been played this year, he has been alright. i wouldnt say dissapointing but i wouldnt say he has set the AFL world on fire.

The good thing is he has been consistent all year and would probably be ready for a midfield role next year. His body this year probably would not have been ready for the barrage of contact the midfield brings

He has played in the backline all year. Played on Farmer, Ebert. Farmer beat him and Gibbs killed ebert.

He hasn't had a run in the midfield all year, but in the last term yesterday he was given the quarter in the midfield and he was really good. He would have had 10 touches. He is all class and has fantastic skills. He has a fantastic penatrating kick. Also, i love the way he tackles. Fantastic technique. Yesterday he had 7 tackles and had more than any other player on the ground.

He is a bottom age player, so you can't expect too much out of him. Selwood is a gun for the cats, but he is a year older and playing in a great team.

Murphy's shoulder is holding up well, but he needs some help in the midfield. He is getting treated as the number one midfielder at carlton since stevens has been injured and he should be the third or fourth best mid. If he was in a better team he would be killing teams.

Several players have been playing with injections pre-game.

These players will now be rested up for next year.

Look forward to seeing Sam Jacobs ruck as early as next week.

Gibbsy & Walker......... get well & ready for 08.

had a very very good game yesterday giving the circumstances! Looked comfortable in the middle in the last term and made the right decisions all day.

Television, newspapers, radio - don't you have access to any of these?

Yup, i'd have to agree and say that his game yesterday, was probably better than the game he got the NAB Rising Star award for

Let the myth continue.
Did well to kick a goal and set another up from the backline vs Tiges.
Distinctly remember him coming in off the wing vs Dogs. Started in the centre with Hird vs Dons at times. Started forward vs Swans, played forward after he injured his ankle vs Dees.
Yes, he has played predominantly in defence, and been very good.
However to say he hasn't had a run in the middle is false. Pure and simple.

He has been a little disappointing, but I don't think the assignments set for him have been realistic, and if anything I think he has been overused. I also think he has been a little wary of contact footy, which at his age isn't a surprise.

Yes I do, but I haven't read/heard/viewed anything related to the two players in question. So is it okay with you that I look for information here on the internet?

Was very impressed with his final quarter yesterday, had six or seven touches I believe and was very effective.

Yes I was at the game and was very pleased to see how well he went when played in the middle. Should play there permanently for the rest of the season.

Also, I must say that other than his brilliant skills, Gibbsy is also the 1%er king. He works so hard for the team (e.g. tackling, sheparding ect).

Hopefully he can work on his set shots though. He seems to lack confidence and doesn't run up or kick through the ball properly. This is clearly a confidence thing though as he was a great kick for goal in the SANFL last year.

Like i said in another post, id rest both Murphy and Gibbs for a few weeks. Give them a break, We seem to forget that their only 18 & 19 and have such huge expectations on the VERY YOUNG SHOULDERS.

A few weeks might be a bit mmuch. I'd give them both a week in the coach's box, maybe even at the same time.

Bryce had more contested possessions than the great Joel Selwood on the weekend. Selwood isn't very quick and as built as Bartel, so he doesn't have as much upside and potential to improve as Bryce. Bryce will have a better second year than Pendlebury and explode onto the scene using the experience he's gained from playing every game(fingers crossed).

watched him live yesterday for the first time. I was very impressed with him. He is very footy smart. He knows where to run, has great vision, terrific kick. He looks like one of those players that more often then not does the right thing.

How do you reckon BG would go as the 6th midfielder in the Geelong side.
Selwood looks good, but with no-one going near you all night, not too hard to do so.

Bryce has been going along just fine.

Hasn't been ripping it up, but has been super impressive. Isn't getting the plaudits he deserves, which he would no doubt get if he was playing in a better team.

His decision making and skills are first class. Will be an excellent player for a long time. There is talk of him carrying some sort of injury, and if this is the case I would now expect his season to end earlier so he can get his body right and get ready for season 2008.

That would just about concede any chance of pulling off an upset win in the last 6 rounds or is that the plan to not win another match for the extra pick?

You are right that they do burden a heavy load for blokes so young. No other '06 draftee has played since round one like Gibbs has I don't think(including the preseason comp.) and Murph doesn't have a lot of good midfield support without Stevens.

However unless either of them are carrying a worse than minor injury then they should be played.
