2-3 weeks huh?
So does that mean 2-3 weeks starting from today or will that be 2-3 weeks as of every Monday update like last time.
To all the posters who are defending the club re injury information I respectfully disagree with all of you.
The club is IMO purposefully being misleading. The only thing I don't understand is why.

Perhaps it means that at only 18 he already has not one but two ****** hamstrings. Whatever he said it is not good news. It's not what you want to hear about a high draftee picked for his speed.
No but I would still rather it be the other hamstring than the same one.

For example with Reid, when he came back in the VFL from his calf complaint and then injured his quad. A lot of posters complained that it was going to be another 10 week soft tissue injury for Reid given the circumstances (pessimism), but there was no reason to suggest that that would be the case and it wasn't. The quad was healed in around the normal amount of time and he is now back. However if he had injured his calf again, then it would be much worse given that the calf had already kept him out for 15 weeks or whatever it was.

So based on what we know, there is no reason (other than pessimism) to suggest that Freeman will not be ready to play after a normal hamstring recovery time. Conversely, if it was the same hamstring again, it would suggest that the hamstring that has already kept him out for the whole season is still ****ed, which doesn't seem to be the case.

You have to admit, though, it's not ideal! Why do our top end recruits have ceramic bones, hamstrings made from rubber bands, and feet as nimble as Jesus's on the cross? What's wrong with recruiting a healthy, resilient sort of player? Do we want to become the specialists in draftee rehab, selecting only promising 'works in progress', or players with in-built injuries set to activate at our selection?

They really shouldn't have played Reid or Freeman in those conditions straight back from such long injuries. Cold wet muddy just asking for trouble. Really stupid decision.

As above, Freeman didn't play and as for Reid, a corky can't really be attributed to the ground condition.

Well they shouldn't have played Reid in those conditions full stop it's asking for trouble whether his injury was caused by the conditions or not. Should have taken one look at the ground and conditions and pulled him.

Clearly you are much more knowledgable in these matters than the club physios. :drunk:

Sinclair is about the 250th best player in the afl. Who cares.

Pretty glowing assessment for a kid with 41 games on his resume, 250th out of the 800 odd rookie and senior listed players in the AFL.

Yeah, not ideal, I thought that was obvious though and therefore best left unstated.

I can 100% guarantee you that I was not dancing the merry dance when I heard about Reid's quad OR freeman's hamstring. I just prefer the lesser of two evils, and in this case I feel that the other hamstring is a lesser evil than reinjuring the same one.

I haven't been down to see a VFL games this season. Can anybody in the know give me a bit of an update on how Freeman is doing?

Cheers

Has elite speed but when he gets the ball on the break, stops and props then handballs.

Has elite endurance but is only turning up for 2/3 quarters

Built like a bull but isn't going hard at contested possessions.

This is the main issue with Freeman atm, he has all these elites traits but isn't making full use of them. He isn't playing bad but looks like a man who doesn't fully trust his body at the moment. Looks to be building into some good form

Sounds like he just needs more time. Only 19/20 so there is plenty of it.

Year out of footy at a crucial time for development. He trained the house down early pre season which upped the ante. Realisitic view was always he would need time to work back into footy and I dont think there is any great concern if he doesnt play much AFL footy this year. Hopefully can get a taste and go from there

So what do people think will he make it?

The question isn't about whether he will make it, it's about whether he will be an A grade superstar or a good B grader... after 2 VFL games coming off a year on the sidelines no one can say for sure yet.

Apart from THATSGOLD who has already written him off. :$

Seeing as all other top 20 (or so) draftees from 2013 have broken through to senior footy you'd think the odds are good. But that being said , I worry that the fact he has 'elite traits' has masked over a lack of the most important trait - to be an intuitively good footballer. But it's way too early to make conclusions either way.

Simple. Great player, doesn't have a problem finding the ball, good skills, really poor defensively! I'm glad the coaching staff wont play him until he fixes that area of his game. If we're to succeed as a team, we need players who will do anything to win a game of footy, not to run around kick chasing. When he becomes a complete player from an offensive and defensive point of view he'll be an absolute gem.

Great player? At the moment he just runs hard to get into positions to get lots of cheap possessions. I haven't seen any WOW moments that great players provide. Player like De Goey at VFL level have provided some very impressive plays. I'd be more impressed if he either wins his own ball or actually uses his pace to break lines.

Before people start having a hissy fit saying I hate freeman. I don't have a problem with him and he has plenty of time to improve. I have a problem with people making out like he is great based on his draft position and pre season training reports rather than what he actual does on the field.
