How long do you think he has left?

Can't question his ticker, and as a strength player in the mould of Lockett or Lynch he could play through to the end of 2007, serious injuries aside.

Conservative guesses would say 2006 may see him retire, but I couldn't imagine a sweeter September than seeing Richo on the podium on the last Saturday of Sept.

I just think it will take till 2007 at the very least.

Luv or hate him, he's as loyal as the day is long. And for that it would be good to see him have some finals success, although we are years away from that.... and his time by then might have already passed.

If his able to stem of his voodoo with injuries then i think we might see him play for another 3 seasons.

I hate that we are in this position but for Richo to agree to play for the Tigers for the rest of the career means giving up on playing in a premiership. I think he loves the Tigers more than this concept which will be interesting if Brisbane was to make an offer that Miller couldnt refuse and then put it to Richo.

The 3 year estimate is correct I think which would see him fall short of any real success in finals.

Personally, i'd love to see Richo take a finals series by the scruff of the neck and take the Tigers to a GF.

We all know Richo is a star in his own right, but i think he needs to get into a finals series, and really shine for people to turn around in 20 years time and say he was a 'star' player. ATM he won't be remembered in the top bracket of Great players.

The chances of Richo turning it on in the finals when there is a breakneck speed and oppurtunities to score goals are scarce (given the level of opposition) are next to zero. Let's not even mention what finals pressure would do to Richo's kicking or the fact that he has had a history of going missing in big games.

As to the topic of this thread, I think he can play till 2007 as a bulky fullforward. but expect him to be more and more injury prone as the years go by.

The future for Richo - less leading up the ground, more staying put in the goalsquare and wrestling with a couple of gorillas whilst Schultz/Ottens lead from the square and Kraks/Brown to crumb.
We need more scoring options and be less predictable. At times Richo will be one on one in the square and you'd have to back him more often than not.

up to terry.... he may want him 5 more years if richo can cope.... or until his contract ends? i hope he is with us as long as possible! best player for the richmond footy club in my times along side knights!

the only way richo will be able to play any more than 2-3 years would be to stand him an the goal square a-la Lynch . His body is no longer capable of running marathons out at CHF anymore.

Interesting to hear people mentioning that Richo deserves some finals success and taking a finals series by the throat ......... you forget how miserable both he ( and Ottens ) were in 2001 , when Richo was in his "prime" . I think they kicked 3 goals between them for the whole finals series .

Richo has been a fantastic servant of the RFC and i hope he sees out his days at punt rd. But , he is a flawed genius . IMO his waywardness has cost us more games than he has won . For a decade now we have built him up as the pinnacle to our future success , unfortunately he has not had the mental toughness to carry the burden ,shown in his very ordinary efforts when had the captaincy last year .

I feel that richo`s days should be played out more as a cameo type player , not as the lynch-pin . I hope Wallace takes the burden off him and looks to the younger players to ignite the future

I have to admit that there are such a small amount of Richmond players in the last twenty years i can remember or have a good feeling about. I reckon I can list the twenty players of the 1980 GF though. I even got excited about the Steven Jurica post that was on here some months ago.

Richo is one that i will always hold up as one of those. He is passionate about the club, He gives his all, His frustrations mirror the supporters frustration and he has provided some great highlights.

Bad kicking is usually wanting the goal too bad. He has not been surrounded by players that he deserves to have around him. Obviously Knights is in that category and I really hope Cambpell gets the recognition that he deserves as its not his fault that there was little captaincy options at the time.

Agreed but then again the Essendon and Brisbane game anyone would have struggled up there with the amount of ball comming down and the Carlton game was a real ******** fight in inclement conditions. Like to see him in three or four series to really assess him in finals.

The only reason to think Campbell isn't the best player of his generation is that he lacks charisma. His record as a player dwarfs everyone else's achievements, including Knights' and Richo's put together.

It sort of reminds me of how Western Bulldogs supporters talk of Chris Grant being the best player they have had in the last ten years when they have a guy called Scott West who is about to collect his 6th best and fairest award.

Some players are fan favourites and others aren't I guess.
