Admittedly I don't know much about him, but here's how I see it...
He can play either PF or C, combined there is 96 minutes for those positions in the game. Bosh and O'Neal (presuming he's healthy) will get at least 36 minutes each leaving 24minutes, most of which will go Bargnani and the remaining will fall on Kris Humprhies who showed improvement (little as it many have been) last season. So I think he will spend a fair amount, if not all, of his time in the D-League.
Yes, he is considered a 'project' so this shouldn't be a suprise but because of the limited minutes that will be available to him during his first 2 years, I don't think any other team will be interested in picking him up as they will not have seen enough of him. So the continuation of his career will rest with Toronto, but as they will have two first round picks whom they will have under contract by the time his contract is up, I think this makes Jawai very expendable. So I don't see him signing a second contract in the NBA.
A quick check I did on all PF's & C's drafted pick 40 or below between 2000-2004 whom are still in the league (I chose this range because for these guys to still be in the league they would've had to have signed a second contract):
Of the 41 drafted in this range during this period only 4 are still in the league.
What do you think?
