How many AFL Grand Finals have you been to?

Three: 2008, 2014, 2015.

Pretty happy with that strike rate. Was a chance for 1983 but my cousin wanted to get on the turps rather than looking after a ten year old.

1986

Unfortunately between two teams I was not interested in.

My dad got tickets to the Hawthorn Grand Final breakfast then supporter buss to the G. So we supported Hawks that day.

Would have been great if Fitzroy had won the PF instead….. Bloody Hawthorn, they ruined many dreams of the underdogs during this time…

Grand Final would have been between 2 coaches who swapped clubs at the end of the previous season, Walls and Parkin.

98 and 99. Have basically lived overseas since so haven't really been in the country to go. Although at half time in the 2015 PF I was close to booking flights home.
I'll come back for 2027 when we make it.

Been to 10. 1990, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001. 2010 (draw, not replay), 2017, 2019. I have an AFL gold, but don't really see me attending again if Richmond ain't playing.

7 between 1989 and 2022, including Brisbane v Power in 2004. All others featured Geelong with Cats winning 3 and losing 3.

I happened to be holidaying in Italy in 2011 when Cats beat the Pies, and I was also in Italy last year expecting/hoping for a Deja vu result. The best thing about being on holiday far away from the 'madding crowd' is that if your team loses the GF you can focus on something else 100%

I'll take a 4-1 win-loss ratio over those.

Been a Hawthorn member since 2005. Missed out on a ticket through the club ballot for 2008, while my brother-in-law got standing room tickets through the club ballot. Ended up buying a single ticket from the Essendon Football Club that got me a seat on the ground level and a breakfast with Robert Walls and Richard Champion at the Sofitel. Walked up to the MCG. First ever grand final (I was a kid during the 80s, and my parents had no interest in VFL at the time, so I never went to any grand final in the 80s), so I was pretty excited, even though I was expecting a Geelong win. Overjoyed to see Hawthorn win the flag that year.

By 2012, I'd upgraded my Hawthorn membership to ensure I would get a grand final ticket if Hawthorn competed. Where that ticket would be depended on the random number generator, but you can tell the category of seat by the Sunday night after the prelim finals based on how much money is deducted from your credit card. Turned out that our four seats (myself, my brother-in-law and my two children) were seated five or six rows from the front on the ground level. Prime position for the lap of honour post-game. Liked the first quarter; didn't like much else after that. I ended up spending some of the third quarter tending to my then four-year old child who needed to go to the toilet after waking up from a nap, rather than watch Hawthorn fight back. I could hear the crowd go nuts but I didn't know what happened (this was the period of the game when Franklin kicked a few goals for Hawthorn to give them a bit of hope). My brother-in-law was annoyed with the result and left straight on the final siren, but my kids wanted to stick around for the post-game concert.

In 2013, we were seated up high in the top deck of the G, near one of the scoreboards. At that time, one of the league sponsors took a whole of ground photo on grand final day, and for a few years afterwards, I could actually see us in the photo. Alas, the site was taken down several years ago.

In 2014, we were seated back on the ground level, almost precisely where we had sat for the 2012 grand final. We actually ran into people seated near us in 2014 that were next to us in 2012. Funny how the ticketing company's computers worked. By half-time, I was getting text messages from friends congratulating me on the premiership.

In 2015, back up to the bleachers again.

I have a mate who is an MCC member, and he religiously goes every year to the grand final. Personally, I don't see the attraction of going to the G to watch a grand final where my team isn't involved. I'll just watch it from home. Each to their own, I guess.

All the Collingwood ones they have played in.

Other ones have been 1993 1995 2024

As a kid i also went to 1987 and even earlier 1983 or 1984 one

I have been to 30, every one from 1996 to 2025 except 2021. That is counting 2010 as two grand finals.

As an AFL member living in the ACT, I was able to go to the GF at the Gabba in 2020 but not able to go to Perth for 2021.

Three of those, 2001, 2002 and 2003 I was involved as an official in the TAC Cup curtain raiser.

I have also been to 21 NRL Grand Finals - 2004 to 2025 except 2021. I went to the first AFLW GF on the Gold Coast.
