Buddy has now passed 950 goals .Looks like he can get to 1000 .

I think the question is can he remain fit for long enough. I think he can average close to 3 goals a game when fit, which means he needs to play another 17 games in his career to reach the 1000 goal mark.

The question is, does he have 17 games left in him.

Could play a burgoyne role to Blakey and McDonald and get carried at worse, easily reach 1000 I feel/hope.

Pretty sure that is an old list and after yesterday Buddy is at 950.

His goal kicking record is ******* phenomenal when you think of the era he has played in

Honestly with all of his accolades I still think he is under rated. If the last 10 years was played liked the opening 3-4 rounds this year he would be on 1,200+ goals

It will be a long time before we see another player of his calibur

Is it inconceivable that he plays in 2023 and eyes 1100?

If the Swans are up and about playing finals, I think he could.

You don't want to burden the likes of Logan McDonald with being the main man at 21.
I reckon if he gets through the next 18 months ok and the premiership window looks open, he may definitely take a haircut for a 1 year deal.

Agree with keeping him as long as possible to mentor and keep the pressure of McDonald.

I also think after 2014/16 it would gnaw at him if he didn't do everything he could to deliver a Swans flag.

I think in many ways Buddy is completely unique as no other player in the history of the game plays like him. He may be in the conversation with the best goal kickers in the games history but how he gets those goals is very different to how players like Lockett, Ablett, Dunstall, Lloyd etc got them.

Ablett was never a permenant full forward. Like Franklin, in the first half of his career, he was a roaming forward. Guys like Dunstall, Lloyd and Lockett are goal square forwards. Only in Lloyd's final season or two under Knights, did he venture out of the goal square.

True, but I was more thinking about how Buddy plays like a huge small forward. He is the only one in the top goal kickers who isn't a particularly strong mark as well.

Can someone remind me if it’s tradition to run on the field when a player hits 1000?

I think so.

If Buddy gets close enough the weeks before, the media speculating that if he has a big game today then this will be the day, but if he falls short then it is the next week that it happens.

I am personally hoping it happens against Hawthorn at the SCG. Would feel appropriate somehow.
