Kawajha gets two chances to bat and is dropped. Yet he is supposed to be taking the reins from Mike Hussey in the middle order of the test team. Way to destroy someone's confidence - drop him after a couple of poor scores (including an unfortunate run out where his bat was in the air) then send him to India to face the wrath of dustbowls.

i imagine he would play all 5 of the odi, he's looked ok never really troubled, but has been his own enemy with bad shot selection.
im guessing they also see more in finch than just his batting abilty

Firstly, Kawajha is in India so cant play these last 3 games. Secondly, warner is out injured and watson has been out injured. Finch is the best opener away from Wanrer/Watson. Finch has actually looked good at the crease but has been getting himself out (one of those was going for the tonk with maxwell in perth). He would be disappointed he hasnt made a score but dare say selectors are still seeing him as one of the next batsmen with his selection as Aussie A captain. Will likely be dropped at end of series but will still be in selectors minds.

Good striker, good fieldsman and can bowl if required. So hopefully can make a score or 2 to keep him in the selecotrs minds.

Finch doesn't look out of place he just keeps getting himself out. I wouldn't say he has been getting out because he can;t handle the bowling. He will be in and around the squad a lot with all the rotation that will be happening in ODI cricket.

David Warner still averages below 30... and he'll get 100 chances because he's apparently a good cricketer. No idea where they got that from.

Whenever Finch actually got a game for Delhi and faced decent overseas bowlers he looked all at sea. I'm not surprised he has pissed this chance up the wall tbh.

And now he is in India, along with a number of other players, hence why Finch, among others, is playing during this current ODI series. It is not that hard to understand.

If the selectors had all players available to them, Finch would not be in the team, so don't carry on as if he is getting preferential treatment over Khujawa.

Why doesn't he deserve preferential treatment over Khawaja in one dayers anyway?

Finch had 497 runs in 6 ryobi cup games @ 100 to start the season, then carried that form through the big bash.

Clearly deserved a decent crack on that form before Khawaja, Marsh and whoever else people are sooking about missing out.

He has had a poor start at international level, it's up to him now to prove he isn't just a premium version of Travis Birt, but you can't deny he deserved a decent run at it.

He looks a million bucks bullying 2nd rate bowling in the BigBash and Ryobi Cup but has really choked when given these opportunities in the Australian top order. It's also not as if the SL and WI's bowling attacks are world beaters either, very disappointing.

Pretty hard to pick players when they are injured.

Or sent to prepare properly in India.

By the way, that decision is one of the most sensible decisons that Aussies have made in years regards coping with daft international scheduling.

Our results (besides the England series) haven't been that bad in the past year. Still ranked 3rd in the world. But I do agree, that's an extremely solid top 7, and then you add Starc, Johnson, Mackay and Doherty... there is certainly no reason it can't be the number one side again soon enough.
