What an absolute load of crap. It just makes you wonder what weak willed individuals follow clubs according to how many flags they 've won.
The true test of intestinal fortitude and loyalty can only be understood by those courageous soles who followed the dogs since 54' st. kilda from 66, fitzroy from 44, sth melb since the thirties.
The game has survived due to the endurance of individuals who have asked nothing more than to see their side play each week,

Good on you Woof!

I don't mean to say that I would not rather my team had a more successful past, but it makes you wonder about some people when all they can say to you is how many flags have your team won.

Kat, sometimes you make some intelligent points and other times your immaturity just comes to the fore. This time is an example of the later.

Woof made a good point and one that he/she is entitled to make.

If you are not going to make a constructive comment, don't reply at all.

Yeah, too right! I follow the Power and we haven't won a thing. And I'm going to give up on the Magpies in the SANFL - they've won too many flags.

Witness how Hawks fans were much more committed and passionate in adversity compared to support levels in the eighties.

Lets hope our endurance isn't tested too much - It's nearly ten years since the last flag !

You are so funny Grave Danger!

You know perfectly well what I was talking about. But just for you, I will clarify what I meant. I have no problem with people talking about the success of their team. My problem is whenever you talk about what team you may barrack for, some mental giants automatically reply with "how many premierships have you won". I am only talking about a selective few and am not doubting the loyalty of anyone who barracks for Essendon, Carlton, Collingwood and even your very own Magpies.

Speaking about your team, it is interesting to see that your attendances are so low after a poor year. Esepcially for a club that prides itself on loyalty.

Yes, I wish my team was as successful as St. Kilda. 1 premiership every 103 years. I'd love to follow that team

Yes Magpie Greg, I can only reflect on one Grand Final victory. But I don't need to live in the past. I also don't need to rely on some of the more ridiculous statistics that I have seen in a long time to justify my support for a particular team.

I think it was Greg Miller who said a few months ago that no club has under achieved recently more than Collingwood. I believe that was in reply to Eddie McGuire who was having a go at North's supporters.

Besides, two Grand Final victories since 1958 is not the most attractive statistic either.

It's time to stand together!

Swans, Lions, Bulldogs, Cats, Demons, Saints and Tigers (well it's been 20 years for them as well, they can't even make the finals to give themselves a chance!!!)

Lets stop taking crap from supporters who barrack for the silver tails of the AFL namely Carlton, Collingwood, Essendon and the interstate invaders (sorry Dockers)

At least Carlton and Essendon can say they are at least competitive and strong on-field, not like that useless excuse for a football team Collingwood whose supporters are too busy with themselves to see that their whole club is crap and have to sell their name just to make money. Even though they don't need to, like other clubs who are trying to survive.

An interesting stat. Since 1981, which victorian teams have won flags?

Carlton, Hawthorn, Essendon, North and Collingwood - In the last 19 years only 5 clubs have won premierships, and yet they still give us crap. Put it into a greater perspective with North winning 2 and Collingwood 1 - In 16 years on 3 clubs have won flags.

Sainter - maybe Port only has a core of 20-25,000 true blue supporters and the other 10,000 who used to go were the bandwagoners. They'll be back if Port have finals success (and if the Cows hit the skids). Beating the Victorians is an obsession with most South Aussies, so even their animosity towards Port Adelaide may be set aside if we can bring that Cup to SA.

I've been lucky in supporting the Crows. I didn't think we would win a premiership in our first 15 years let alone 2 in 9. But before the Crows I only barracked for Central Districts in the SANFL and still do.

We started in 1964 and have never won a premiership. We have only 2 minor premierships our first after 15 years in '79. We have played in only 2 GF's losing both to Port Adelaide. The first after 32 years in '96. We played and lost 13 finals between '76 and '90.

I don't know of a more frustrating record in football at any fairly high level. Before you start I didn't say worse record, I said frustrating record. It is more frustrating to have the talent and to get yourself into a postion for success only to throw it away than it is to languish in the doldrums at the bottom year after year.

What I am trying to say is that it is much easier to support a club that wins premierships than to suppoort a club that doesn't. I take my hat off to supporters of St Kilda, Collingwood, Swans (Sth Melb), Melbourne, Bulldogs, Geelong & Richmond.

What they do is hard. And when their time comes they will deserve and enjoy the fruits much much more than the Carlton, Bomber, Kangaroo and Hawk fans do. The interstate fans are different again in that they will naturally support the local product and don't have to put up with the rubbishing from opposition supporters week after week when they don't succeed.

So even though my AFL team has had good premiership success I fully understand the plight the other supporters face and I respect them for their loyalty and durability.

Don't ever let the passion die.
