I was having a squiz at the Fitzroy board, and Mobbenfuhrer has posted a thread about how many games he and other board contributors have attended, on a year by year basis.

Over the years I have probably attended about 30 neutral matches, but for Roos senior games, mine are as follows :

1981 - 1 (was 5 years old and had been in the country about 2 months)
1982 - 0
1983 - 0
1984 - 1 (vs Collingwood at Victoria Park)
1985 - 0
1986 - 0
1987 - 0
1988 - 0
1989 - 4 (started going by myself or with mates)
1990 - 13 (including my first Roos win in my 10th game)
1991 - 18* (first year as a member)
1992 - 20*
1993 - 17* (16 + 1 final)
1994 - 21* (19 + 2 finals)
1995 - 21* (18 + 3 finals)
1996 - 22* (19 + 3 finals)
1997 - 19 (17 + 2 finals)
1998 - 16 (13 + 3 finals)
1999 - 15 (13 + 2 finals)
2000 - 11
2001 - 7*
TOTAL : 206 games (190 + 16 finals)
* - missed only interstate games

From 1997-2000 I had to miss several games due to work commitments, and (perhaps fortunately) missed all the finals in 2000. Also missed the 1999 GF because I couldn't afford it, but wasn't too upset because it mean that hopefully one person who missed the 1996 win could go that day.

I am posting this so we can all give an estimate of how many games we have been to. It might hopefully give a perspective of how logn everyone has followed the Roos, how often each person goes to see the Roos, and what obstacles (location, age, work, disability, family commitments) might get in the way of getting to a game.

oh god do not ask me to try add it up....on a weekly basis its usually 2 or 3 seniors and or a ressies game in there somewhere

I will never forget my record of attending every single Ansett Cup game at Waverley the last year it was held there i think it ended up somethin like 4 or 5 in a row one week coz they had a monday one there as well and by the end of it i was chukin my guts up in the 40 degrees heat ah but i made it to the final siren and set a record

You're so fine

Only counting Roos games baby! :D

It took me nearly two f*cken hours to do that post, checking fixtures and stuff... the sad thing is I really had nothing better to do on a Saturday night! Actually I had plenty to do, just no one to do it to. HA HA HA

I just copied your idea and did a similar post on the Essendon forum. Considering we are the same age, I think it was an interesting comparison. The probelm with me, was that I couldn't go to Bomber games too much when I was younger unless they were at the MCG, because my Dad wouldn't take me anywhere else (perhaps Waverley occasionally). But when we moved to the MCG (coinciding with the time that I becme old enough to start going by myself), it started an upwards trend of addiction that hasn't stopped! :D

Certainly pumped my 153 games, Darky (154 now as I saw the Reds yesterday).

Good to see the idea taking off. Maybe we could one day draw up a Bigfooty Record one day, with poster stats on it :D

I know of at least one person (look directly above you) that would cream his undies at the idea of poster stats! ;)

BTW mine are 36-24-36, very feminine HA HA :D

alrighty, here it goes:

1996 - 2 (first year i actually gave a damn about footy and started hassling dad to take me :D )

1997 - 10 (8 + 2 finals)

1998 - 13 (11 + 2) - my first year as a member

1999 - 13 (11 + 2)

2000 - 10 (8 + 2)

2001 - 4

all added up, that takes me to the grand total of....52 senior games. bit disappointing really, sounds like so few :(
but, obstacles involve location, and sunday games aren't a goer at the moment because of work.

Alrighty, here's my crack at tallying up my Roo attendance :

1980 - 1 game (North v Rich - the day Blighty runs into the 'Open Goals...Errr...points' )
1982 - 1 game (Nth v Rich, remember being excited at seeing the Krakouer boys runnin around - think we got done though :(
1983 - 1 game (Nth v Foots - 1st ever visit to Arden St, us by 20 goals I think)
1984 - 1 game (Nth v Rich - Yep there was a pattern here in the "The Early Days" )
1986 - 2 games (1 agst Geelong at the ANZAC Day Double Header....Any thoughts on bringing'em back?)
1990 - 4 games
1991 - 12 games
1992 - 18 games* (1st yr as a member)
1993 - 14 + 1 final
1994 - 19 + 2 finals
1995 - 19 + 3 finals (+1 Night GF)
1996 - 17 + 3 finals
1997 - 14 + 3 finals (missed a month due to Ashes Tour commitments, 4 Melbourne-based games)
1998 - 14 + 3 finals, didn't go to the 6 interstate games
1999 - 16 + 3 finals
2000 - 10 + 2 finals (relocated to Sydney in May after attending 7 of the 1st 8 games, parachuted back for the Essendon finals drubbing & the hawk triumph, ran out of dough to get back)
2001 - 1 game (the Swans debacle)

Well, there you have it 164 games & 20 finals, not quite made the "200 Club", but an experienced campaigner nontheless.

Miss it soooo much!! Drive my poor girlfriend bananas (she can't understand the fuss....more like she doesn't understand)

Cheers

Baldrick

Okay Darky lets see if this beats all -
1973 - 9games (I was only 7).
1974 - 6 games (including all four finals).
1975 - 5 games (3 finals inc G/F)
1976 - 2 games (first 2 finals)
1977 - 5 games (inc first final and both G/F's)
1978 - 5 games (inc G/F)
1979 - 12 games
1980 - 13 games
1981 - 16 of 22
1982 - 23 of 24
1983 - 23 of 24
1984 - 21 of 22
1985 - 23 of 24
1986 - 21 of 22
1987 - 19 of 23
1988 - 19 of 22
1989 - 20 of 22
1990 - 21 of 22
1991 - 19 of 22
1992 - 18 of 22
1993 - 16 of 21
1994 - 21 of 24
1995 - 21 of 25
1996 - 21 of 25
1997 - 22 of 25
1998 - 20 of 25
1999 - 22 of 25
2000 - 20 of 25
2001 - 7 of 10

Since 1982 I have been to every game in Melbourne except -
93 v Coll (wedding)
96 v Rich (wedding)
00 v Carl (wedding)

Overall I count 470 games and since 1982 it is 397 out of 454 with all the missed ones but the above 3 being interstate games.

I've seen every final since 93 and every final bar 9 since 1974.

I've also seen 2 Canberra games and 1 in Adelaide and 6 of the Sydney games.

I haven't included any nuetral games which would take the total to over 500.

Can anyone else do better?

I was on Doug Walters tour it was awesome fun.
Same which tour did you go on? or did it off your own bat. I was at the draw at Lords and the resounding victory at Manchester - Steves two tons and Warnie was on fire 11 for the test. How I wish I was going this year the Ashes is alot of fun.

RE: Ashes Tour

Hey DOC,

I went on a privately organised tour through the Caulfield Cricket Club.

I also attended the Lord's Draw - saw Days 2 (30 overs) & 3; memorable for McGrath's 8 for.
We were stationed at 3rd Man for the Right-Hander at the "Non-Members" end (Top Deck). We were near another tour group, may have been yours.

Also there for Day 2 @ Manchester - saw the England innings Warnie's 5 for a highlight. Loved the choker hold we put on the English bats that day.

Cheers

Baldrick

Barron i think you were next to us there was 50 in the group all wearing a green & gold track top. we had the full 5 days at both tests. Dont remember the first washed put but the bar was open and the bubbly was flowing, was a good enough reason for me to celebrate being at the home of cricket so the glass was not required. Shinboners should the good French be necked straight from the bottle your the expert on such things? Great days in England "you know what I mean".

In regards to any sporting events, drinking champagne straight from the bottle is acceptable provided you have sprayed half of the bottle's contents onto your companions with it before hand. :D

I've been going to watch North games since 1965 how many games i've been to well lets just say it's alot.
I also have not missed a finals game that we have played in since 1974 inc all grand finals.
Geez l love our club.

Well I started going in 1963 but mostly to Sth Melbourne games because my uncle used to come and pick me up and take me with my cousin. I was a North Supporter though!

My uncle used to work with Bob Pascoe and Mick Dowdle and so when North played Sth I got to meet them plus a couple of other players: Noel Teasdale (my hero!) and Bertie Johnson.

When Nth played Sth at Coburg I was a mascot and helped lead the team out on the ground (it pissed down that day lemme tell ya!)

So....how many games have I been to? jeez...how long is a piece of string

See you at the Team of the Century dinner!

I couldn't work it out but I would have averaged about 13 since 93 so between about 90 and 100.

Most memorable - 99 GF sitting near the fence in the Ponsford.

Most dissapointing - obvious so wont mention it.
