Doesn't his contract finish this year? Could be an interesting distraction if we sign Sidebottom early.
Would be a trade situation though. Depending on how his year goes could end on the trade table.

Best talent on the list with DeGoey and Moore.
Big call. What is the criteria. Best talent under 23?

Better than Treloar or Grundy? I like Broomy but dont think he is anywhere near top 3 young talents on our list.

I used to think we needed his type badly, however injuries have really curtailed his seasons and it's difficult to see where he's going to fit in.

I expect Elliott, Howe and Swanny to be our small/medium HF/forwards. Cloke and Moore as our talls. I'd have Broomhead in front of Fasolo for that other forward spot. I prefer Broomheads' attributes over Fasolo's with his foot speed a point of difference.

Injuries permitting, I'm expecting between 15 - 20+ games.

17 games assuming a clean injury run. Has skill, pace, great goal sense and a desire to crack in for the hard ball. Too lightly bodied to be any good at being an inside mid but I think he could be a lot like Didak. Not the same ceiling but similar role Dids played at his peak. Broomy fades out of games a bit but not due to lack of effort. If he can be utilised by his teammates as a release player more, he would flourish as a fwd/mid.

For sure it would be a trade but would still generate a lot of intrigue if he didn't have Sidebottom to take all the attention away. Hopefully he has a good year either way... So if push came to shove we'd actually get something in return :S.

IMO, he is the perfect Didak replacement, same skills, same awareness, plays in the same position
U serious?
Didak was once in a generation freak. Broomhead is not even vaguely in the same league.
He could be a very good player but he's no comparison to Didak whatsoever.

He is probably more like an Irish Didak.

I'm shocked that everyone is not voting for 22+. Seems so obvious to me.
Reckon if you say 22+ you need to nominate the 3-4 of Blair, Howe, Fasolo, Aish, Crisp, Greenwood, De Goey that he gets picked ahead of. Personally at the current moment I wouldn't have him likely in the round 1 team ahead of any of those.

It's the great position we are in because he has talent and what you say is reasonable and could happen. It will be a slap to our traders if they bring in 2 payers mid career on long contracts and they end up out of our best 22.

His best bet is getting past Blair the other 3 I think he will struggle with. If he goes past them because of his own improvement all the better.

Greenwood is nothing more than a tagger and Howe is a forward only, likely to be competing with Fasolo for a spot. Broomhead, Aish and Steele are exactly the type of mids that will be needed with the interchange cap.

Broomhead is in my best 22 if we opt for only 6 full time defenders, if we want the extra defender then Maynard comes in for him. In recent years we have opted for the extra defender so he's right on the edge imo. Of course injuries will happen and doors will open up, unfortunately for him he was the one that got injured last season just as he had consolidated his spot.
Blair, Oxley, Fasolo, Toovey, Frost, Ramsay and others will likely gets games also through out the year.

I've got a lot of confidence in Aish and I think he'll provide much needed flexibility in our team from a high HFF, wing/midfield and HBF if needed. I think he'll surprise a few.

Would Aish be ahead of Broomhead?

Think you are selling Greenwood short. If he has a season like 2014 he is a pretty big possession winner and a hard nut who thrived in big games. Last year his leg stopped him but if he comes back to what he has shown he can do will be an essential midfield member for us. Fas for mine is just bigger , stronger, better and more dangerous. I am a fan of his. Steele is a long way ahead of Broomy and it will be diosappointing if Aish doesn't immediately elevate himself aabove Broomy. He has a better pedigree and history of performance.

Howe and Greenwood are competition because there are only so many spots.

Broomy's biggest problem is that since he was in the 22 last year ( and he was only just in) Howe, Greenwood, Aish and Treloar have become available for selection and DeGoey has established himself as best 22 and Fas has restablished himself as a potent forward after injury ridden seasons. . That's 6 players cleary ahead of him who were not when he injured himself. No one in that time who was best 22 is gone and he is still behind Blair also in the pecking order.

Would Aish be ahead of Broomhead?
Yes. Very much hope so. Aish was a much more highly rated junior who had a great 1st season. I would expect that to be a benchmark for what to expect from him.
