Fremantle:
My guess is we'll only use picks 17, 37 and 40, upgrade C. Pearce and 2 picks in the rookie draft. As it stands we will have to delist 3 more players from the senior list in order to do this.

We have to delist at least one of Strijk/Dalziell/Wilson. We may choose to delist 2 and use pick 62 as well as 46 and 61.

If Crows lose picks everyone moves up

If Crows lose picks everyone moves up
If Sydney and GCS also lose picks everyone moves up 3 places.
If Tippett is forced to go in the draft and GWS pick him up, everyone moves up 4 places. If we keep going all of us could end up with pick No 1. :D

Just 1 live pick I reckon (16). Walker, Stringer upgrades.

In relation to rookies, Burbury, Eardley retained. Simpkin, Sheringham delisted. Two Rookie selections. Tough call on the latter two. But reality is, given how much young talent we have on our list, and the fact we're taking only 1 live pick in probability, two mids in their mid20s, who aren't in our best 22, are list clogging our rookie list. I'm wondering how we're gonna find sufficient gametime for Stringer, GHS, maybe even Caddy next year. So better to get two 18 y.o kids who can develop in the VFL for a year or two, than have Simpkin, Sheringham tearing it up as proven VFL players. Would be great to rookie a young ruck and KPD prospect IMO.

I'd be surprised if we used that many picks in the draft.

58 and 63 could end being elevations.

And 3 rookie selections. Wouldn't surprise me if it at least one of them was a 'redrafting'.
I''m hoping this is the case.

Draft: A midfielder, best available player, a mercurial type and a project ruckman.

Rookies: Two mature midfielders and a mature ready to go back up ruckman.

I guess we wait and see. If all these clubs end up passing in the 3rd round and Adelaide get (rightly) stripped of picks, our later picks might end up a fair bit earlier. I guess we will just need to decide if we can find better footballers at those picks than say Mabon, Richo, Speight and Sierakowski.

It's amazing how few selections will be taken in both drafts this year.
Particularly given its the first "uncompromised draft" in several years. I think the expansion teams have changed everything. They have monopolized the best talent to such an extent, that established clubs are seeing picks from 40-50 onwards as useless. They are choosing to back in developing and improving their existing talent, than grab a fresh late draftee and start the process over. GC, and GWS in particular, have set a new benchmark for talent. The established clubs can't match them for future talent, so will plump for cohesion and stability in list management, and hope to wound the expansion teams with raids. There are exceptions to this strategy, but this will be the general rule over the next while in list management terms IMO.

Ps. Really looking fwd to your mock. Always a great read and very informed.

I was tempted to disclude 63 but then I didn't see the point in the pick swap with Melbourne, unless we were planning to use it in another deal. Garlett, Campbell, McIntosh, Edwards and Pedo all gone, will be interesting to see how we tackle it.
